i forgot what i was going to write about but here's a list of things
jade, 2 May 2026
hello i'm on gemini again (though i doubt any of you will remember me, never really did much here to begin with). i had this feeling i wanted to write a post and submit it to antenna but i forgot what exactly (so i've just listed a bunch of topics that were on my mind lol) and also i'm a little concerned my lazy writing style and informalness isn't compatible with the usual audience of antenna but whatever
things i was thinking about
- authoring these posts in org-mode and using a custom pandoc writer to convert them to gemtext? that would be kinda cool
- i /was/ gonna write about what if gemini used DANE as a substitute for tofu for encryption since it's somewhat more secure in theory? but then i realised how much of a classic ietf rfc-hellscape clusterfuck dane and dnssec are and i dont really wanna do that actually. plus i don't like dns anyway as you will know if you follow my projects :>
- on which topic, i kinda want to write about pawsd here but i'm afraid it's not really ready enough for that kind of attention yet and also i don't want to come across as just shilling my stuff and being annoying about it
pawsd (distributed directory system with petnames and stuff i think its pawesome)
- how to go about avoiding the horrors. reducing reliance on proprietary stuff and clearing my head so i can think better and so on
- the other day we were trying out usenet and it's so dead there's just like. old fogeys complaining about the world (fair enough i suppose) and spammers everywhere. i hoped comp.lang.scheme would be safe from such tragedies but it's just "B. Pym" shitting on scheme and evangelising CL </3
- did you know plan 9 is really cool it's like unix if it was unixier and had stronger morals and didn't compromise to the corporate ways. installed 9front on an old laptop recently it's so cool i even managed to get wifi working against all odds. it's so fresh and you can just do stuff and it all makes sense there's no massive big frameworks or toolkits you just do the thing you want to do
- although, it's a shame to see so many 9front people shoveling llm sludge into their code :( even just browsing shithub / only9fans.com you can see so many claude code shills, half the themes for lola (window manager) are just spat out by an llm, etc.. it makes me so sad to see
- age verification laws are bullshit but the solution isn't "parents should just parent their kids better", we need to address the way that helicopter parenting has turned into helicopter society i think
- digital id laws are bullshit too and one of my big issues with them is the presumed reliance on having an apple or android (blessed by google) device. do you mean to tell me that you would make it illegal to not purchase a product from one of those two companies. that's so bad ! (and there are plenty other issues as well some technical some political but i'm sure you've heard too much about this topic already anyway)
- how am i trying to organise things using org-mode? because it's a little confusing and to be honest gtd never worked for me so maybe i'm going down a pointless path but i want to believe i can emacs my way out of any problem
- related: maybe gtd could work for me if i understood how to do it better and didn't have such a critical spoon shortage. i don't suppose i can really write about this but if any of you are gtd knowledge havers and know the One Crazy Trick to make it work for me pleeeease tell me i need an organisation system that works
- i'm pondering whether to keep doing this blog-style approach to writing on gemini where it's all articles that i write on a certain date and that's that . or whether i should do something more gardeny, idiomdrottning.org-style where i write stuff based on topic only and update it whenever i feel like it
- maybe i should just yap about ninajirachi cause i dont know if yous are tapping into her music yet and she's so good!!!! (and saoirse dream!! shes really good also)
conclusion????????
uhh i guess maybe i'll write about one or more of these topics or something entirely different in the near and/or far future? who knows
if you would particularly like to read more about any of those things do tell me :> i like talking to internet people anyway
