2011-04-20 Computer RPG To Play List
/pics/2829578321_71e5689754.jpg
I want to play all these games ā except when Iām at home thereās table top role-playing games prepare and run and play and when I finally have some time off thereās also blogs to read, books to read, DVDs to watch, and sunny weather and coffee houses and bike rides and all the rest of it.
Thus, the current state of affairs is this:
- I havenāt finished Mass Effect. Iād like to buy and play Mass Effect 2.
- I havenāt finished Fable II. Iād like to buy and play Fable III.
- I havenāt finished Dragon Age. Iād like to buy and play Dragon Age 2.
- I havenāt finished Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, nor Elder Scrolls III: Oblivion. Iād like to buy and play Elder Scrolls IV: Skyrim.
This is hopeless!

You should also play Planescape: Torment, though that probably requires an inferior computer to what you now possess.
Mass Effect 2 is lots of fun, better than the original I think. Combat and character progression in Dragon Age 2 is better, but I donāt think the story is as cohesive.

Planescape: Torment has been on my list for a while now, but I donāt know of any cool sequels that are upcoming, so it didnāt fit the pattern. š
In addition to everything else, the problem is that the thing ought to run on Mac...

Hm, some people play Planescape via CodeWeaver on a Mac. No Windows license required since it works via Wine. That sounds very cool.

I was *really* disappointed from the Dragon Age 2 Demo, I couldnāt even get myself to finish it...
Skyrim looks and sounds great but I guess one will need a rather powerful PC to play it.

Planescape runs nicely in parallels, otherwise. I have a much nicer experience with parallels than with wine.
And I didnāt like DA2 at all. Many conversations are completely immersion-breaking and not fitting a fantasy setting, and the fight mechanics are completely broken and stupid. Using any kind of strategy instead of spamming the 2 or 3 combos that give you +600% dmg actually makes your fights last longer. And bossfights....Yay, hit x button for 400 times until the boss is dead. š
I did like the original DA, though, and ME2 is great.
