Artificial Intelligence (AI)
I wrote my master’s thesis (back then it had a different name) on the navigation of bees at the department of New Artificial Intelligence, back in the previous millennium. To have our code run on a Mars Rover was our greatest dream. But I guess the whole field was funded by DARPA wanting to improve cruise missiles and the ethics haven't improved.
I believe that AI training wastes *a lot* of resources. It generates a lot of CO₂ and requires a lot of precious metals? Is it worth it? When assessing its worth, what are you putting on the other scale: the raped dust of a dying earth wroth dollars for the ton, or your immortal soul?
