I paid my first direct tariff today

I got one of those Lily-go T deck plus things for Meshtastic experimentation. $70 list price. Tariffs added on an additional $25. Glad I didn't get two.

That seems like a random surcharge added by the seller. I can't figure out what the current tariff is, but I think it's 30%, and another 30% for some things, and maybe 54% or $100 shipping tariff... but $25 on $70 makes no sense.

It's amusing that Americans will pay the tariff.

The request came from the shipper. DHL. After the order the seller warned me in broken English that there may be an import tariff. DHL, the shipper, followed up later with an amount. While I haven't seen it itemized I suspect it is 30% plus a fee for the paperwork involved. This stuff is pretty standard for large purchases, like people who buy those junk mini electric trucks on alibaba, but this is a small purchase. One might call it de minimus.

Americans will pay, it will just be included in the price tag on Amazon or wherever.
