Got an answer from the Mosquito Atlas ( citizen science project). The mosquito sent in is a female of the Aedes annulipes group, with a catch date of 28.05.2024. The online map does not show the entry yet, probably not updated yet. Here is the link again: [https link] have to sent in more mosquitoes; from different localities. when leaving the house I just take some small plastic jars with me in case there are some flying around....

I am starting to monitoring mosquitoes in our garden. As I am very interested in insects, this is worth a try. Together with the children. There are various CO2 based traps to attract the mosquitoes. There is also a project to monitor, identify and map mosquitoes where you can send in the trapped ones. It's called the Mosquito Atlas [https link] anyone out there interested in insects?
