Toyota in car internet hacking
Anyone has experience in hacking modern cars? I own a Toyota and lately when i was very remote, it told me 'no internet connection' (i never connected my phone or any other device). So now I am wondering how i could access its internet connection to let a little gemini server running 24/7.
Hints, links, starting points very welcome :)

I haven't engaged in this field myself but I have watched several videos from the Car Hacking Village at DefCon, which is a great way to get some inspiration. If I recall correctly a lot of car hacking can be done over the CAN bus within the vehicle. Good luck and happy hacking!

DEF CON 33 videos are up on YouTube now as well. I specifically got a non-internet car but I’ve wondered about customizing the firmware on it. It’s under the GNU GPL v3 so I technically could, I’d just hate to have to explain to the mechanic that I bricked my car’s computer.

thanks.
bricking the car is the most scary part... adding life saving information the other.
I live in the north, when the starter battery dies, i might die too... why cant they display me the current battery %?
open us the gateway to fix the mess... and then lets add a gemini server and xmpp bridge :)
