While waiting for an ev that makes sense for me, I have been going carless, with my fleet of various bikes, scooters, skateboard, and now decomissioned Heely skates. And carshare membership. On a cold winter day, I use the sometimes stuffy (locked windows), sometimes crowded city bus if the distance is long. But if the distance is short, my surprising choice is my Hudora 280 kickscooter, with its 11 inch pneumatic front tire it looks kind of like an escooter (so no one notices), and it is easy to hose down the salt after!
What is the killer feature? Well it is so hazardous to be in anything but a car on the icy roads that are narrowed and bumpy due to snowdrifts, and with all the crazy car traffic sometimes the sidewalk is the place to ride. It is SO legal to ride a kickscooter on a sidewalk that once a cop told me to get off the road and onto the sidewalk!
(I actually pump the tire higher than the feeble maximum recommended pressure, using an electric pump, for lowest rollig resistance.)

EVs are so stupid and dangerous especially in cold climate. Get a real car if you need one. Thank God US will stop the insane subsidy soon. Maybe other places will stop pushing these horrible things too

Well, I mean you could say cars in general are stupid (oversized, smelly, overfeatured spy machines) and dangerous (carbon monoxide spewing, landscape blighting, pedestrian and cyclist terrorizing) if you wanna go there. That's why I said the EV that's "right for me"!

Not to start a religious fight here, but do look into what happens when the battery compartment is breached to admit air -- something that happens from a fender-bender, say, and not necessarily immediately. Check how many seconds you have to get out of the car before it turns into an impossible-to-extinguish inferno, while your power doors do not work. Gas-guzzlers are insanely safe compared to EVs, something the media has only recently began to mention in the passing.
EVs are environmentally worse, and carbon monoxide is still spewing -- just not out of the tailpipe, but from an electric generation station somewhere else, in a poor neighborhood. Battery efficiency is not great and half is wasted to heat. Lithium mining is the greatest environmental threat currently. Learn the facts before blindly repeating 'green' propaganda meant to enrich Elon and his cohorts.
Most of deaths from fires in NYC are attributable to people charging scooters in apartments.
What EV is right for _you_?

No religious point of view from this side.
It would be nice to have a vehicle that toned down the bloated tech and power requirements, preferably used home-grown tech and manufacturing, maybe sodium based or some safish battery tech, didn't spy on me or cost a fortune to repair/insure, and used cleanish energy and materials.
But actually just clear the #$%& bikepaths in winter, and I could just keep using my ebike all year. We should also stop jacking up our population which leads to more pollution and habitat loss than anything probably...
