Gemini on a Kindle 3?

Has anyone tried to jailbreak and install KOReader on a gen3 Kindle with Keyboard? I’ve heard somewhere there’s a plugin for a Gemini browser for this alternative ereader OS, but I’m not sure about the compatibility for the exact machine; I’ve yet to replace the old battery from mine… I’d love to have a dedicated device for a text-based Gemini browser on e-ink.

Check out this page (next week, or so?):

The repository is online, though: https://repo.or.cz/gemini.koplugin.git

For the jailbreak, https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88004 seems to be a good starting point. I never had any non-touch kindle myself, so I can’t comment further.

I do use the gemini KOReader plugin on Kobo Libra, it works wonderfully there.

Thanks @skyjake and @jsv ! I’ll try to get my hands on a new battery asap…

@tecna If you do get as far as trying the gemini plugin on your kindle, please do let me know how it goes! I should warn you though that I had an email a while back from someone who tried it on a button-controlled device, and they said it's quite annoyingly difficult to follow links. I'll be open to suggestions for how to improve the experience.
