I've just dipped my toe into nix by having a shell.nix file in my home directory which gives me an easy way to install the tools I use across all my (not nixos) machines. I've heard about home manager but I've not really looked into it. As I understand its the tool I ought to be using?

I've been on nixos on my private laptop and have not yet tried out home-manager (nor flake). I use a git repo at $HOME but vim on nixos does not work with that so I have copied my .vimrc into the nix file. I should probably look at home manager :)
