I was pretty angry about that, collectively it didn't make a blip. Neither is this though. The justification for federalizing the troops is flimsy and strikes me as pretextual. And, of course, most of these states are Republican run. The bigger numbers will come when it is time to go into Democratic run states who are more likely to resist politically. If protests erupt, that's all that's needed for martial law and the total suspension of habeas corpus for citizens. I am not saying it will happen, I am saying I don't trust this SOB to do the right things and have that limited scope and duration of mission.

I think he is doing a tremendous job provoking and distracting. We should pay attention to the other hand

Ownership stake in Intel without there being a financial emergency? His relationship to Epstein and proclivity toward underage girls? His inability to settle the armed conflicts around the world he boasted about settling? Or is this a posturing ahead of even worse jobs numbers set to drop despite having "his" guy in charge of the BLS?

See the problem with the other hand is it is also very busy. Flood the zone so nobody can pay attention to everything. That's been the strategy.

Yes.

Although 10 billion to intel was Biden's doing

Though I am pretty sure that was intended to be a grant instead of a stock sale. But I can't honestly make heads or tails of it, which is probably by design.

It also represents something the Republicans hated during Obama's years: picking winners and losers in the market. Trump has shown a willingness to use the executive authority broadly. So that this was boasted by Trump and I can't honestly find anything in the CHIPS act about stock sales means he owns this one and everything it implies (eg removing funds from functioning entities of society to prop up failing entities, the same criticisms leveled during the auto industry bailouts of 2008) regardless of where the money comes from.

Agreed. I guess Intel is the new amtrak, which makes sense as it should've died around P4 but got new life after buying the Israeli x86-clone company with an architecture that worked...

Communists should rejoice as we are one step closer to State ownersip of means of productionl

Marxists should rejoice as we are one step closer to State ownersip of means of production, another communist plank. US hits 8 out of 10.

The fed holds stocks on occasions (and Clinton's Plunge Protection Team etc) but in this case I am not sure who owns 10% of Intel. We The People I suppose

It's only communist if Democrats do it. I think both sides can agree on that.

Yes. We have some whacky communism here. Or is it fascism? I need a drink.

Trump mobilizing 1,700 national guard troops to deploy to 19 states β€” If Biden did this we would be in a civil war. [gemini link] Per The Independent (citing Fox News) To save everyone a click the states are: AL, AK, FL, GA, ID, IN, IA, LA, NE, NV, NM, OH, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, and WY The goal is to assist with federal law enforcement and deportations and an open ended mission to fight crime. I'm not going to lie, this is making me incredibly nervous.
