I want to like Gentoo, really I do. I like its philosophy, and the fact that you can, to some extent, customize the entire distribution at the compilation level. In the end, though, it just proved too much work for me, particularly the rolling updates.
congratulations! i hope you'll like it! since i started using it in 2005 i only regret not doing it earlier. i run it on framework, pinebook, pinephone, ibook g4 with powerpc cpu.
i used to run it on raspberry of first generation, now i found that raspberry a couple of days ago and found a page where there are gentoo stage builds for different arm cpu's starting from armv4. so i'll run gentoo on it again.
Welcome to the gentoo club, dce. I'm firmly of the opinion that gentoo is one of the main projects keeping the linux ecosystem sane, so it's always nice to have another user.
