If I were to be worried about precision (5 or 6 digits) more than speed, I would have used a log table instead, then add all the values together very quickly and a final reverse lookup at the end.

And if you don't care about precision you can use the slide rule itself to do the conversion and add them together mentally. At least that's what I would have done...
