First Post Here

Hello, new here. I love Gemini (not the ai) stumbled upon it last week and ended up setting up my own Gemini capsule and have been very active on it lately. if what you may call lurking.

My discovery - the web sucks

I think Gemini has made me realize that the web that we know it is full of "noise" and is not really enjoyable or something that I want to be on. Loss of personal blogs, pages and more so seems to be the biggest problem work the web I think as I know it. Gemini is as nice break from all of that.

agreed. it is small enough to be manageable, and you can focus on the content instead of losing yourself in the form. (which supposedly was the reason that we are all here online)

@r4 Hello and welcome! I'm always happy to see new "faces" around. Nice to hear you already set up a capsule! I hope you've come to stay!

Howdy. I agree the web is noisy, and Gemini is a breath of fresh air especially if you have ADHD. It's also a corner of the internet that isn't "dead" (dominated by bots).

Hi there :-)

To my thinking, there are two webs -

1. The classic web with web-pages composed of HTML/CSS and possibly a small amount of JS purely for in-page functionality

2. That which tries to emulate an application or an operating-system, or a page that sends data collected back to the server unnecessarily, or harvests whatever for whatever reason other than to provide the desired user experience,

The first is potentially fine, but the second is bad news IMHO.

🎶 Break on through to the other side

And welcome!

@Anchorite The unfortunate part is that even if it's not, it's still dominated by people about as good as bots. Go to most imageboards and you can see that (excluding 4chan, where it really is bots a lot of the time, or barely distinguishable at least).
