because RAM is expensive and volatile you can't have persistent data on RAM.

sometime ago my friend asked me what's the difference between RAM and ROM β€” obviouslly he isn't much techie and don't know how computer works so he asked me to test if I could expalin to a non techie about this stuff. and here is the answer I gave him: RAM and ROM both are memory however the big difference is that read/write on RAM is faster than ROM so the software got loaded from ROM to RAM so we could have faster read write.
