Re: "So I am battling with RSS. I would really like to find (orโฆ"
I remember in the early days of the iPad, I thought it was neat to be able to read my RSS news feeds as a "digital newspaper" using the Flipboard app. But over time, the novelty wore off and I returned to the traditional RSS feed readers. The underlying reason being that the "newspapery" layout was too much cognitive load compared to a simple vertical feed.
I'm currently using the ReadKit (iOS) app for RSS.

I just use BBS Antenna, and nothing else -- zero effort.
Anything else is literally infinitely more difficult

It's not at all newspaper-y but I use my own miniflux instance.
It does exactly what I need it to do. Refresh feeds and present them.

yes miniflux is amazing and i confirm it works on kindle paperwhite 1.
for android feeder and readrops are good.

+1 on miniflux, great little thing. i use "flux news" to connect to miniflux on android

Also +1 for Miniflux; it's really simple and non-distracting.
On that note - does anyone know if it's possible to read Gemini feeds natively with Miniflux? I was able to add the Midnight Pub to my feed list, but only using their HTP-based feed.

I liked the newspaper-ey aesthetic, but ultimately it didn't work (for me). There were so so so many items from the various rss feeds, and it wasn't easy to find the ones I wanted out of those. I use newsboat now so I don't clickbait myself.
Maybe there are better ways to handle this issue-some kind of alg that sorts the items I want from a feed and features those. But the places that do that don't, to my knowledge, allow self-hosting. Newsboat is fine.

should i mention thah i have my own rss reader?
i also use it to watch youtube, by copying the link from it to my script that calls yt-dlp and pipes to mpv.
buh i think i can add a button there to run automatically.

So I am battling with RSS. I would really like to find (or maybe create?) a solution that feels lik e a digital newpaper I assembe myself once, then open it each morning with coffee and read. No ads, no pops, no diggingh through three layers of websites to get to actual content. How are you guys navigating this (or are you)?
