january progress
28/01/26
as january draws to a close, here's a further update on my progress:
- i'm halfway through knitting the 3 balls of yarn i've spun
- i finished the mini sketchbook - still want to scan and upload it
- i made another sketchbook - from two amazon envelopes. yay crafts!
- i learned the hail mary in latin
- made some characters for a free-form solo ttrpg i'm hoping to play
- read halfway through a fat fantasy book that's been lying around for a long time
i seem to be doing better with youtube, especially when i remember to review my morning "flashcards" vision board thing (link at the end). maybe it's because i get my fill of it with all the knitting? but i'm not feeling deprived, despite removing it from other "usual" activities like mealtimes. so far so good.
at this point the biggest difficulty is still the resistance to the "boring"/"difficult" tasks. which i know take only a couple of minutes and actually feel very rewarding. i'm still very much avoiding them, even if i choose a "better" distraction (ie something i actually want to be doing vs. things that are designed to trap you). in a way it's a productive procrastination, so that's still progress.
i'm also dealing with a slightly busted knee, "conveniently". it doesn't interfere in any hobbies but it does interfere in responsibilities. so resting the knee, while reasonable, seems like i'm shirking my responsibilities in favor of fun stuff. there's probably some needless guilt in here. or just frustration that i can't tackle this particular part of the overall plan just yet. one thing at a time.
