Advent of discoveries 🎄
I was a little disappointed that ew0k's Advent of Bloggers was fizzling out
OK, he said "sizzle", which makes it sound quite exciting 🙂
So I thought I'd contribute something, even though it's not a blog. Today I discovered...
UNESCO's "Constellation" of intangible cultural heritage
First, it's a good example of something that works better visually. A huge amount of information is presented in a way that emphasies the relationships. And it's nicely interactive. One tip: when you've selected something, a plus sign means "show more info about this". Obvious in hindsight.
But more importantly, it introduces you to all sorts of curious corners of human culture. I've only poked around a little, but I've found out about
- Epirus polyphonic song
- Tahteeb, Egyptian stick fighting/dancing
- Mongolian knuckle bone shooting
- Ludodiversity: safeguarding traditional games in Flanders
Highly recommended.
