I came across the nex protocol, and implemented it for my client. It's pretty simple.

Hmmm, did Nightfall City exist previously on Gemini? It seems to be only available on nex now.
Everyone else has had a go at their own protocol. Maybe I should do one. Oh, wait, I think there was once some discussion of a banana protocol on IRC, but I can't remember the details.
