Week off

I took a week off work with no real plans, to use up a bit of annual leave. I haven't taken many holidays this year, so I still have 10 days left to use up between now and November (having already booked my December holiday). The aim was to work on a few projects and relax for a bit.

I've got too many projects on the go to get any one of them done:

I won't go into the printer too much here, but I did the first resin print in a while for that. Also the biggest resin print I've done! It's about 100x100x10mm (but printed at an angle). It just about turned out ok. I bought some tin-cure silicone to make a mould around it, and used some resin samples to pick a likely resin to cast in that mould.

The shirt pattern was created using my own measurements. And that's where the problem comes from. Somehow I messed up the measurements that affect the armhole size, and I've ended up with a shirt-shaped object that my shoulders don't fit into. I found this out quite early on but carried on to test out the pattern steps. Other than that mistake it's very nice!

The bookshelf has been sitting around flatpacked for months. It needs some serious reinforcement to work as a door - it's just an Ikea one which uses the hardboard back for torsional rigidity. That's not enough for a door, let alone one that you put weight on.

So today we'll be heading to B&Q (our favourite place) to pick up a sheet of plywood to replace the back and various other bits and pieces. Once the bookshelf is strong enough to act as a door I can rip out the current door frame and sort out mounting it using the special hinges we bought.

We also had a spa trip last weekend and assembled a folding e-bike for my partner's sister. I also read through most of the Murderbot Diaries (one more to go). Busy week!
