Jorge Sanz is a geospatial technologist from València, Spain. With a background in Cartography and Geodesy Engineering, he has been working in Geographic Information Systems and Software Engineering since 2004. After spending almost a decade in consultancy, he has held technical leadership roles in product companies since 2015, first at CARTO and then, since 2019, at Elastic.

Jorge Sanz is a geospatial technologist from Valencia, Spain. With a Cartography and Geodesy Engineering background, he has worked in Geographical Information Systems and Software Engineering since 2004.
After two years as a postgraduate researcher at his alma mater, Jorge moved to Prodevelop, a Valencian software company, where he took different roles: developer, consultant, lecturer, and technical manager. In 2015, Jorge joined CARTO, a successful Spanish startup, where he initially took on a sales engineer position and later became the support team manager. In 2019, Jorge joined Elastic as a Geospatial Engineer to help maintain the company's mapping service for Kibana users, contributing to the Kibana Maps and Dashboards applications.
Jorge was one of the first Spanish-speaking OSGeo community members, joining the foundation charter in 2008, contributing as a community member for the Spanish Language Local Chapter, and as a long-term member of the Systems Administration Committee. Over the years, Jorge also spent time on the Incubation and Marketing committees and the OSGeo Live project. Since 2011, he has also been one of the main coordinators of the local OSGeo microchapter called Geoinquietos Valencia. Finally, Jorge has been a casual contributor to OpenStreetMap since 2007, lecturing about the project at conferences and workshops, and helping to coordinate mapathons for OSM and the Humanitarian OSM Team in Valencia.

Jorge Sanz es un tecnólogo geoespacial de Valencia, España. Ingeniero en Geodesia y Cartografía, ha trabajado en Sistemas de Información Geográfica e Ingeniería del Software desde 2004.
Tras dos años como investigador de posgrado en su alma mater, Jorge se incorporó a Prodevelop, una empresa valenciana de software, donde desempeñó diferentes funciones: desarrollador, consultor, formador y en tareas de dirección técnica. En 2015, Jorge se trasladó a CARTO, una exitosa startup española donde primero ocupó un puesto de ingeniero de ventas y más tarde también pasó a hacerse cargo también del equipo de soporte. En 2019, Jorge se unió a Elastic como ingeniero geoespacial para ayudar a mantener el servicio de mapas de la empresa para los usuarios de Kibana, contribuyendo también a las aplicaciones Kibana Maps y Dashboards.
Jorge fue uno de los primeros miembros hispanohablantes de la comunidad OSGeo, uniéndose formalmente en 2008, contribuyendo como miembro de la comunidad para el Capítulo Local en Español, y como miembro a largo plazo del Comité de Administración de Sistemas. A lo largo de los años, Jorge también pasó tiempo en los comités de Incubación y Marketing y en el proyecto OSGeo Live. Desde 2011, también ha sido uno de los principales coordinadores del microcapítulo local de OSGeo llamado Geoinquietos Valencia.
