08 Horse
This week, I had no idea about the theme or the word for my post...And suddenly, it was an evidence : Horse like the New Year in Asia, the year of the horse. Because of my links with Asia, and more precisely Vietnam, I'm celebrating this new year. Each Year, I'm going in a pagoda to buy some vegetarian food made by Vietnamese, and we are also cooking Vietnamese dishes. We are not able to cook every typical dishes for this celebration and sometimes it's also to have the good example with specific herbs and plants we are not able to find at home. It's also a good moment to put some fun at home with the animal of the year, red envelopes, and other decorations. more than 10 years ago, we were in Vietnam to celebrate it, and it's also a moment of transhumance, everyone going back home with its family, its parents...
We also have another tradition : To look at the TV shows and Gala on the Vietnamese and Chinese TV. Several years ago, the Vietnamese TV seems old fashionned, kitsch, traditionnal. But now they are imitating the K-Pop shows and the Chinese TV with bigger and more modern acts. It's always an authoritarian and communist country with traditionnal values but, especially in the south, it's evolving with more commercial things, ...So different than in our country. The difference with the Chinese TV is that the shows are only for Vietnam, not even Viet Khieu (expatriates).
On the official Chinese TV, it's a 4-5 hours long TV show. It's made to show how big and powerful China is. For the last 3 or 4 years, it was more Chinese, but also celebrating the successes of the country : A new plane, a new train, a new rocket, a big ocean liner, ... This year there was a song named "Made in China". But what surprised me was the place of 3D special effects, AI retouching, and the role of robots. There are special FX everywhere on the screen and nothing is real. Actresses are flying like in "Crouching Tiger". Horses made of lights are flying everywhere with dragons and birds. It's like a Sci-Fi or Fantasy movie in quite real time. But it's way too much. And now it's frightening with humanoid robots replacing dancers and ... Shaolin Monks. Imagine a big humanoid robot doing martial arts with a saber or a spear. Robocop seems so slow now, compared to those things. There was not any horse robot but who knows for the next year ?

They’re fit and intelligent, adoring physical and mental exertion; they’re decisive but also easily swayed and impatient."...hum. I'm not Horse and I don't know any "horse", except real ones. I don't know if it will be a better year than the Year of the Dragon. But could it be worse for the world?
