Slow Servers: Hosts / Freya
Freya is our main router. Also runs SNIProxy, our OpenBSD mirror, and more. No VPSs are hosted on Freya. Sadly, the S1260 does not support EPT, required by VMM.
No picture of Freya, but she should look almost exactly like Thor (backup router.)
Hardware
Supermicro very short depth 1U chassis, 200W (overkill) 80+ Gold powersupply, and motherboard.
- CPU: Atom S1260
- Memory: 8GiB unbuffered ECC DDR3 1.35V
- Harddrive: Recertified Seagate Exos X16 16TiB, 7200RPM, helium filled.
These older Atoms are really cool. They are non-speculative processors with extremely low power use. This means they're immune to any/every style of Spectre vulnerability. The S1260 is pretty much the fastest one you can get. And it's certainly slow, but it does the job.
Unfortunately, OpenBSD uses its typical Intel + speculative execution mitigations which slow this down more than necessary.
Power usage
Around 20W, all the time.
