Please nuke germany, (but give me a heads up first)

This is probably my 7859443th rant about this country. But my first one on my gemlog. And it's a bit of a clarification where I stand politically, just so people don't think I am something I'm not. I mean in short, I'm some kind of artist. An old queer tranny with knuckle tattoos and a crowbar.

But this is about the area I live in, grew up in. The society I am asked to assimilate into and to defend (lol, no I won't). The belly of the beast.

Every morning

Every morning I wake up and am surrounded by germany. This is why I rarely leave the bed.

A fever dream

People outside germany, especially in the US, seem to have this idealized image of germany. The country with the working railroad system, the good universal healthcare, the antifascist constitution, the robust social system. A fucking utopia, if only for the weather.

Knowing sweden, it's basically the image germans have of sweden.

The fuck, yeah sure, it's a relatively safe place to be and if I break my leg I won't end up in debt. Also there are trains. But that's about it with the good sides.

I doubt there is a society more in denial about its past and present. About history.

Genocide

Yeah you guessed it right. The G-Word. If I wrote this in german, my neighbors would call the cops just from the typing noises of my keyboard.

Germany was and still is a genocidal society. And the people here will fight tooth and nail to not admit this.

Germans at large don't even know where Namibia is. Or that we colonized it. They might know about the genocide under a different phrase, the Herero and Nama genocide, but only if they're actually invested in learning their history.

I went to school in the 90s and early 2000s and I never heard about it in school.

Ask germans about the Nazi genocide and they will tell you about the horrific death camps and the Jews. And they'll tell you that at least the Nazis are gone as if they were an outside force. They do not teach or talk about the genocide on the travelling peoples (The Roma and Sinthi), the genocide on queers that began before the Nazi holocaust and persisted well into the post war republic. The genocide on or even the existence of germany's black population. The genocide on disabled people.

I live in the city where the eugenics program was created in and there is no mention of it.

Post war, the Nazis didn't disapear (unless they were useful for the axis powers), they just became the citizens of the two german republics. They continued to persecute queers. Paragraph 175 of the german penal code, outlawing homosexuality among cis men and trans women alike, continued to be enforced by Nazi cops and Nazi judges well until the late 60s. In 1945, the few surviving gays were not liberated from the camps, they were transferred right to prison.

I still met some old gays that did prison time for gay sex. They never recieved any reperations, they were marked as sex offenders up until the 90s. Their anger persists in people like me.

Up until the 2000s, if trans people wanted their name or gender marker changed, forced sterilization was enforced by german judges. (This is a genocidal act by the book). If we were married, we were forcibly divorced until 2017. Even after this, I myself had to sit in front of a judge, representing the same legal system that had ruled the persecution of homosexuality as constitutional (meaning it still is), presenting two long psychological exams done by court appointed doctors that in detail describe my "sexual disorder".

Yeah I am meandering a bit here and uh, this is my "scream" gemlog, live with it.

The germans do not talk about this. They do not want to know this. Like they do not want to know the first public book burning the Nazis did was the literal erradication of our written history, incinerating the library of the Magnus Hirschfeld institute of sexology, at the time the most comprehensive and unique collection of queer knowledge in modern european history.

Now that my personal anger is out of the way, my people are not the focus on german genocidal thinking, though we are one of the groups targeted by default.

The only reason I do not go into the extent of the Nazi holocaust, the camp system, the horror brought to eastern Europe, etc. is that that's the part you are most likely to know already and if not, wtf? Go google it but yeah. I'm not gonna make a writeup of this here now.

Zionism

Yeah we have to talk about this one. There is a german proverb, called the "Treppenwitz" (roughly translated to staircase joke). It describes the kind of joke that isn't obvious at first glance but you smirk about it on your way out, walking down the stairs.

Zionism is the dark treppenwitz of german history.

It is no surprise, post war germany did not object to the Balfour declaration. I mean they just did a genocide on Europe's Jews, I get that they're not really in a position to object it despite its colonial nature. And as if germans would ever object to colonialism but that's beside the point.

What we do not learn in school, apart from the Nakba itself, is that it was germany that financed the 1967 attack and occupation on parts of Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and all the rest of post Nakba Palestine in which the occupation persists to this day.

In our schools we learn a lot about the zionist state. How our "right to exist" is tied to its "right to exist". We learn about the hardship that settlers have to endure while oppressing the local population. We do not learn about the erradication of the Jiddish language, the forced assimilation (genocidal act) of Mizrahi Jews. We did not learn about the sheer horrors our weapons in the hands of zionist soldiers unleashed in Lebanon. And if you told people, you might get a reaction somewhere between scepticism and defensiveness.

Now, when operation al-Aqsa flood unfolded and those of us who have ever read a history book not written by a white european called out warnings of the reaction that might unfold, those warnings were deemed unspeakable.

When the evidence followed the warnings, mentioning the evidence became unspeakable if you're white. Punished with police battons if you were not.

When the evidence became overwhelming, the smallest lip services were made but the military support of an ongoing genocide was still considered a matter of national security.

When peaceful demonstrations, scholars and artists did not seem to have even the slightest effect, people quickly began to act. Zionist supporting venues got boycotted, grafitti got sprayed, small acts of disobedience sprung up and recieved all the state's capacity for violence in return.

Scholars were banned from entering germany, cultural spaces had their funding withdrawn, laws were passed to ban condemming the zionist entity for it's acts. When recently, a hand full of brave souls breached the compound of a zionist weapons manufacturer in germany, smashed some lab equipment and then did not resist an arrest. They were marked as a terrorist supporting group.

And none of this should surprise you in a state like germany. What makes this different is that support from the zionist entity, the marking of resistance fighters as "terrorists", the conflation between zionism and Judaism, the tokenization of Jews in support of a genocide, comes from both, the state and the "german left". (I have to quote this because at this point "german left" is mainly an oxymoron).

germany as a state of collective psychosis

Most germans will say they are not islamophobic, racist or transphobic. And most won't have an issue with their trans, muslim or black neighbors, colleagues, etc. But when there's a genocide happening, something in their collective conciousness, their cultural dna, gets triggered and while most won't stand in the streets demanding "total war!", most of them will truly believe they are leading the world to a better place and fight you with all violent means necessary to enable whatever has to be done to bring "our way" to the world.

Europe is moving towards state-fascism for the last decade and germany is no exception. But germany is the most powerful state in Europe. If germany turns 1933 again, there is no one around us to resist. This is a reality. There is no one left willing and capable to bomb Berlin again.

Any resistence towards german fascism is already outlawed today. Stand in the way of a cop - crime. Tear down a Nazi party ad - crime. Attack a Nazi party convention - crime. Meaningful resistance among germans is little. And it is led by the most vulnerable of us. Those who can already feel the darkness coming from the horizon in their bones. The people of color, the queers, the cripples.

last words

Many of us have already prepared for when and where to leave. Others are already preparing to fight. All of us know there is a chance we will die in a camp one day.

May Allah be my whitness, we will sing and pray and write and draw and love and fuck until the last of us is matyred. Because if justice isn't served for all, it is not yet the last of days. We have nothing to fear. And all to win.
