●●● From Techrights

This list will be include BSD-related software that Github hosts. It may or may not be possible or desirable to boycott all projects that continue to develop and host with Github-- this list is for people who want to take Microsoft's control of repos into consideration when choosing what software to rely on.

●●● NomadBSD

This Live BSD is developed on Github.

●●● FreeBSD

FreeBSD is read-only for their three main Github repos, but they maintain pkg (the FreeBSD equivalent of apt-get) and an increasing number of administrative tasks on Github.

●●● NetBSD

So far (not thoroughly evaluated) NetBSD is almost as good as OpenBSD, but they use Github for fundraising (among other options.)

●●● OpenBSD

Probably the most Github-free BSD, at least in the mainstream. Does have software in ports (and some installed by default) which is Github-based. BSD_Watch will focus primarily on that:

●● GNU C Compiler

status: uses perl, uses python

●● GNU C Library

status: uses python

●● GNU nano

status: uses flex, uses os/2 support from github

●● GNU Wget

status: png in docs, uses brotli, uses zstd

●● less
