Eventually, Maybe: Golden Smoke
Grimy, bluesy, hazy rock out of the Canadian prairies almost 20 years ago.
I know Bandcamp's kinda been in it recently for being bought and sold and laying off lots of staff, but it's still a treasure, still helping me find new (and new-to-me) music I'd have never found otherwise.
Top 40 music is uninteresting, full of the young and beautiful who knew the right people and signed at a big label, and barely a guitar in sight. Outside of that there's a vast amount of music made by people who tried and failed, or never signed, or just put their music out there, trusting it'd find the right person, eventually, maybe.
I'm easy. I like guitar and blue notes and a little hair on everything. And this Golden Smoke album is everything I wish I could still hear when I'm flipping the dial on the radio.
What about you. What new-to-you music have you been listening to lately?
