The Hated One - Delete GrapheneOS? WTF?!
2026-05-08T18:00:05+00:00
GrapheneOS is inevitable. Support my work:

The most private... no scratch that. The only private phone on the planet is under attack. For years, I've been biting my tongue, but I am done. This is my truth about GrapheneOS. Because I am done being polite to fragile egos with failed ambitions.
When you can't take down a security project because it's open source and thus will live forever, what do you do?
When you can't take down a security project based on the merits of security because it's by far the very best available anywhere, what do you do?
The only thing you can do is to vilify the very existence of the project. You try to convince people that only criminals would want privacy and security. This is already happening.
Another way you can do this is to portray the project itself as a fruit of a deranged crank of paranoid anti-social despots who can't be trusted. This is also happening. I was holding back from telling you the truth but no more. The damage that's being done to what I think is the most important project of our lifetimes, is unacceptable. I am the Hated One after all. So here is the tea. Bridges can't be burned if they don't exist, right?
This is where I draw the line. I am not here to tell you you have to like Daniel Micay. But I am not gonna let you pretend you can just discard his work because of his personality traits. Daniel Micay has done more for security and privacy than all of his critics combined. Literally. No other security project comes even close to what GrapheneOS offers.
GrapheneOS has security hardening features unavailable anywhere else. It has a hardened memory allocator, hardened SELinux polices, hardened webview and web browser, hardened sandboxing and exploit protections, better defaults, better privacy, it is actually the only fully anonymous device in existence and it is the only phone capable of completely sandboxing Google without any privileged permissions. The list of improvements goes on for many pages.
Most people though don't understand any of the technicals I just mentioned. But they do understand the drama. The problem is that it is these technical facts that should convince you that all these people who are disparaging GrapheneOS and Daniel Micay's work are all wrong. Anyone recommending against a privacy project because of drama is a fraud and shouldn't be taken seriously.
And despite his character flaws, Daniel Micay has been a principled leader of his security project. He made the right decision to sever ties with CopperheadOS. He made the right decision to keep his work open source. He made the right decision to repel corporate interest in his project and keep it non-profit.
This idea to repel corporate interest appeals to me too. I am inspired by Micay's decision here because I too reject corporate interest. I refused lucrative sponsors because they would introduce a conflict of interest to my privacy videos. The same can't be said of those that sought to kill Micay's character. So like Micay, I too am funded by donations on my Patreon.
I think you should honor that. You should support GrapheneOS and you should support my work. People like us are fighting for your privacy and your freedom with principles. What I do pales in comparison to what Daniel Micay does. I am giving it my all. The ball is in your court.

Politically Aweh - Why The Petrol Price Exploded - And The Solution Government Is Blocking?
2026-05-07T16:41:26+00:00
Your petrol price just hit a record high — and the minister's solution might make things worse.
The war in Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz, triggering the biggest oil supply shock in history. SA gets up to half its fuel through that narrow gap. Minister Mantashe says we should drill for local oil and gas. But the world's biggest oil producer just saw pump prices jump 30%. Nigeria just built one of the world's largest refineries. Both are paying record prices too. So what's actually going on?
KG and Zoe investigate the real cause of SA's fuel crisis, dismantle the "drill baby drill" argument with climate and energy economist Dr Emily Tyler, and reveal the companies already building SA's way out — from solar-charged buses to battery-swapping delivery scooters saving drivers R1,500 a month.
Plus: why is government charging you MORE tax to go electric than to stay on petrol? We need to talk.

Guys we are facing a poly-crisis right now, from the wars in the world, genocide, and the cost of living crisis- we are all feeling it. Across the world and even in our own political climate we are seeing an anti-democratic climate towards the press and journalists. Preserving the right to speak to power is essential. Whether it's through protest, investigative journalism, social media or comedy.
Politically Aweh is South Africa’s bold, independent news show with a uniquely local flavour — funny, fearless, and fighting for a better future.
We’re a nonprofit and rely on your support to keep bringing fresh takes on serious issues. Please support this call by sharing this video, subscribing to our channel and if you can- donate to Politically Aweh.

This month I planned to review OpenMandriva, but ended up giving my honest take on Ufficio Zero — an Italian Linux distribution promoted with real passion by the local community. This is a respectful but uncompromising critique: what works, what doesn't, and a concrete path forward.

But from a Devuan mailing list, someone resurrects GTK2. The resistance is alive.

Daily Maverick - Is your money really safe? South Africa’s invisible crime wave
2026-04-29T11:24:42+00:00
South Africa’s latest crime statistics suggest a country getting safer, but that’s only part of the story. Commercial crime - fraud, scams, and financial exploitation - is rising, with cases doubling over the past decade. It’s a quieter crime, but one that targets ordinary South Africans directly, often through the very systems they rely on. Why has this surge escaped national attention? And what happens when victims try to fight back? Rebecca Davis, senior journalist at Daily Maverick, reports.

ExplainingComputers - Ubuntu 26.04: Reliable Desktop Linux
2026-04-26T13:00:55+00:00
Ubuntu 26.04 Linux distro introduction and review. If you are thinking of moving from Windows 10 Linux, Ubuntu is well worth considering.

CLASSIC UBUNTU FONTS:
You may be perfectly happy with the default interface font included in Ubuntu 26.04. And if so, that’s great. :)
However, if you want to restore the previous, thicker interface font (last included in Ubuntu 22.04), execute the following commands in the terminal. However, please understand that you do so at your own risk, and that you may need to manually reset your terminal font in its preferences. Also note that you may need to pause and log-out or restart before entering the final command (which locks the old font and stops it being replaced during an update), as text will become unreadable. After installation, you may also want to adjust the font size in Accessibility, as shown in the video.
sudo apt update
sudo apt install fonts-ubuntu-classic
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface font-name "Ubuntu 11"
sudo apt-mark hold fonts-ubuntu fonts-ubuntu-console

Danie van der Merwe - Stop Guessing if Your Servers are Up: Free VPS Monitoring Guide
2026-04-25T11:34:32+00:00
In this video, I explore how to set up Uptime Kuma on a Free VPS using Docker Compose to create a robust, 24/7 monitoring solution for your home lab or AI applications. I dive into the practical logic of utilising free-tier cloud resources to ensure your services stay online without adding to your monthly overhead.
The discussion covers the end-to-end deployment of a modern monitoring stack. I walk through my docker-compose.yaml configuration, which integrates Uptime Kuma for service availability alerts, Caddy for automatic SSL encryption, and the Beszel Agent for lightweight host metrics.
Practical Tips: Best practices for managing your monitoring environment via the terminal and keeping your containers up to date.
Whether you're looking to monitor a complex AI workflow or just want a reliable status page for your personal projects, this setup provides a professional-grade solution at zero cost, and that includes running from a free VPS server.

While you are too busy watching the elite not release the Epstein files because they are too busy getting rich from blowing up the Middle East, your friendly neighborhood US government is not letting a good crisis go to waste and is laying another brick on that big beautiful totalitarian state. Following in the footsteps of Nixon and Bush, the world’s sole global hegemon is expanding the illegal, unconstitutional and very much secret powers of its intelligence agencies so that they can pretend they are doing it for your security while you can pretend you have nothing to hide. It’s called warrantless mass surveillance. It used be a conspiracy theory for decades, before it was proved to be real by massive leaks of classified NSA documents and now it’s worse than anything we could ever imagine.
The government thinks that on the Internet, you don’t have a reasonable expectation of privacy.
You see, before the Internet, it was hard to get your information. Most of it had a physical form and much of it was protected as a civil right. If a police wanted to get access to your records, they would have to get a warrant.
But then came the Internet. More specifically, commercial Internet. Internet companies like Google were carefully created following the CIA and NSA designs. America’s chief intelligence agencies would give scientific grants to that kind of research that allowed them to implement tracking tools into benign commercial tech. Tech that billions of people would happily adopt and use. For example, Google’s search tool was intentionally designed to allow for precisely tracking of individual queries and identifying who they came from. That way, the CIA wouldn’t need to wiretap your home. You would do it yourself!

Developer User Group - Threat Modelling in an API Test
2026-04-17T14:13:48+00:00
Facilitator: Phalo-Mihlali Mbangcolo
I am an aspiring full-stack software engineer with experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python. I have developed websites and applications that strengthen my practical skills in building functional and user-focused solutions.
Beyond development, I am deeply interested in API security and ethical hacking, and I have a working knowledge of Linux environments. I am driven by curiosity, problem-solving, and the desire to create innovative and secure digital solutions.
Title: Threat Modelling in an API Test
Threat modelling in API testing is the process of identifying and analysing potential security risks to an API before they can be exploited. It involves understanding how attackers might misuse endpoints, data flows, and authentication mechanisms, then prioritising and addressing those vulnerabilities. By proactively mapping out threats, developers and security testers can design safer APIs and reduce the risk of data breaches or unauthorised access.

Jozi.JS - Jozi.JS Early April - Feel the Effect
2026-04-03T05:49:38+00:00
Join us for a night of code, drinks, and good conversation.
From designing API interfaces to understanding the effects of an Effects, we have it all this Thursday 🎨.
Talk 1: The Effects of Effect
Most async codebases slowly decay into a tangle of promises, implicit errors, and “hope this works” concurrency. This talk shows how Effect brings order to that chaos. We’ll cover structuring concurrent flows with clarity, modeling errors as first-class citizens, and achieving total type safety across your application. By the end, you’ll see how to replace fragile async code with systems that are explicit, composable, and resilient by design.
Speaker: Asimthande Majola
Mobile Developer at Investec, focused on crafting expressive, reliable payment experiences. Weekend hacker with a deep love for TypeScript and a firm believer that great software is both elegant and practical. Proud plant dad.
Talk 2: An Interface Is All You Need
We spend hours debating frameworks, arguing about state management, and bikeshedding folder structure — but the thing that actually saves projects is something far more boring: a well-thought-out interface. In this talk, we'll explore how a clearly defined interface isn't just a TypeScript nicety, it's the backbone of maintainable apps, clean APIs, and sane developer experiences. We'll look at real patterns where getting the contract right upfront collapsed hundreds of lines of defensive code into something almost obvious. And because good ideas don't care about syntax, we'll see how these same principles translate directly to Java, C#, and beyond
Speaker: Siyabonga Nkuna
I'm a software engineer with a focus on TypeScript, React, and data-heavy systems — currently building enterprise dashboards at Vodacom. I've spent the last few years being the person who shows up and asks "but what does this actually return?" before anyone writes a single component, and I've become a bit evangelical about it. When I'm not wrangling interfaces, I'm probably fixing a 16-year-old Mercedes or running LLMs locally on hardware I definitely justified to myself as a business expense.

This is my interview with Ruddy Wang from Cape.co. Cape is a private cell service carrier, one of the first of its kind in the world. It offers some of the strongest privacy features I have found anywhere. Cape can rotate your IMSI numbers to protect your identity, it offers secondary phone numbers to manage multiple profiles, and it fully supports GrapheneOS!
But what is Cape's business model and can it really fulfill its privacy promises? Find out more in this interview.

Danie van der Merwe - Single button press to start or stop a Portainer docker stack
2026-03-22T13:20:06+00:00
A Portainer stack (related group of Docker containers) can be started and stopped remotely with the literal push of a button on a Stream Deck. Or you could create a desktop icon that does the same thing. There are many ways to do this as long as a script file can be triggered by a button, icon, or even a Home Assistant automation.
I've found this very useful for Docker services that I don't want running 24/7, but I want to start them up quickly, do what I need to do, and stop them again. I also have two stacks that require a full restart after any container has been updated, and this is how I achieve that restart quickly (I use WUD instead of Portainer for my container updates).
The video shows how it works, what the script files look like, and also the steps required to set it up using Elgato Bitfocus for the Stream Deck. Any other Stream Deck software should be able to achieve the same thing.

Andreas Spiess - AI-Driven ESP32 Workflow (Spec → Code → Test) using Claude Code
2026-03-22T08:00:46+00:00
After my last video, many of you asked for a deeper look at how I actually work with AI and the ESP32. So today I will show you a real example project — an iOS voice keyboard for any computer.
But that’s only half of the story.
You will also see how I automatically test ESP32 devices using an “ESP32 workbench” — a Raspberry Pi running special software that allows an AI agent to program, flash, monitor, and even test Wi-Fi and BLE behavior of ESP32 boards.
The second part is a full walk-through, from the installation of Claude Code till the test of the project, if you want to see the extreme power of today’s AI

Developer User Group - Developer UG March 2026 - How I SOC 2 and you can too!

One fateful morning, while you are going about your normal day of asking robots to do your work, your boss might say, "We have to get a SOC2 audit done to sell to Big Company. Can you do it?"
So you look at the O*F*F*I*C*I*A*L AICPA website (accountants!) and it is totally incomprehensible. When you ask people who have gone through compliance audits before, they wail and weep and say rude things.
Well, it's probably not that bad. I'll show you what it entails, how much of your life it will take away from you, and how you can do it without expensive $15,000/year tools.

Danie van der Merwe - Portracker - an open source self-hosted real-time port monitoring and discovery tool
2026-03-10T20:39:09+00:00
I'm using this tool to identify which docker container ports are published or exposed (from the container) as well as which internal ports are available on your containers. This tool helps see where there may be port clashes, which ports are exposed and could be hidden, and helps find an available port to use for new containers. It has various ways of sorting, filtering and grouping the ports view.
Yes you could track all your open and internal ports in a spreadsheet, but if you have 40 or 50 containers running, and spin others up and down, it gets difficult to keep that spreadsheet up to date. Portracker gives you a live view of all system ports, and docker published and internal ports.
I also spend a few minutes explaining how and why docker ports are exposed, and how you would point to them from a reverse proxy such as Nginx Proxy Manager or your PC on your LAN.

Talk 1: We Didn’t Mean to Exclude You — But We Did
Even the most empathetic teams can struggle to imagine what it’s like to navigate the web without full access. The talk is not only about coding for accessibility but also showing you what the web is like when navigating using assistive technologies. I'll also share what I have learnt while actively working with accessibility.
Speaker: Tshepiso
Tshepiso is a speaker with a commitment for building inclusive digital experiences. Her work focuses on accessibility, not just as a technical requirement, but as a human responsibility shaped by everyday design and development choices. She speaks and runs interactive accessibility labs that help developers experience the web from perspectives they rarely get to see.
Talk 2: How Rust infers types to deliver Programming safety
Rust combines memory safety, performance and a fantastic type system. These factors combined act to deliver to keep applications working correctly.
A strong type system ensures data exchanges follow the correct contract and unexpected data does not cause unexpected behavior.

No Boilerplate - Hack your Brain with Powerlifting

I've spent my whole adult life chasing ergonomics tricks and hacks to solve my constant back problems and, most recently, terrible RSI. I was able to stave off problems for a long time with ergonomic keyboards and such, but it would always catch up with me eventually.
Ten years ago I was testing out a posture brace for my back to alleviate some problems that I was having whilst sitting at my desk. A colleague who was a competitive weightlifter remarked that what I was doing was a waste of time, and that I needed to start lifting heavy weights instead. If only I had listened then I could have saved myself a great deal of suffering and money!
I started exploring powerlifting 5 years ago, but fell back to bad habits because I didn't take it seriously. This year I started lifting regularly, and at the end of the summer rediscovered powerlifting.

// It's not as crazy as it sounds: life on Earth could be descended from space-faring microbes from Mars, or even further beyond, riding here on an interplanetary highway of asteroids. Extremophile bacteria may be resilient enough to survive the intense 3-stage journey, by repairing their own damaged DNA or hibernating for the long and deadly journey through space.
The chemistry of life could even be spreading across solar systems to other parts of the galaxy, connecting biologies together in a huge web of life. Could we be a part of an ancient cosmic family tree? What other creatures could this tree contain?

Thanks for watching everybody. It feels so good to step back into the world of Life Beyond. It feels like I am still scratching the surface... what theories should we investigate next??

Andreas Spiess - How to charge an EV using Solar, OCPP, and EVCC
2025-11-16T08:02:04+00:00
My problem started when I bought this car. As an electronics engineer, I didn’t want to leave this planet without owning an electric vehicle. With its 650 horsepower, it’s a thrill to drive — and with 3.8 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, or 60 mph, it reminds me of my sporty motorcycle. The car is a Smart #5, BTW. I used OCPP 1.6J and EVCC to solve the problem

DevConf - Unlocking Code Confidence: Building Effective Quality Gates in CI Pipelines by Craig Risi
2025-09-12T04:00:56+00:00
How do you know when your code is ready for production? At what point in time can you trust your automated tests enough to deploy into production?
Companies use CI pipelines to help drive faster execution of tests and ensure that code is of sufficient quality before deployment. Or at least that is what they are supposed to do. Too often, companies end up using CI pipelines to try and drive better software delivery but end up delivering poor-quality software into environments and lose trust in the pipeline process.
In this talk, we will have a look at the ideal structure of a CI pipeline and how to build the different quality gates into the pipeline to ensure that things like code coverage, security, automated test results, and performance standards are all achieved before code is deployed to the different environments. We will look at the structure of a CI pipeline, what the different stages mean, and how to enforce different metrics and targets automatically in the pipeline.

DevConf - Side-hustle - AND keep your day job! by Candice Grobler
2025-09-10T04:45:06+00:00
Most developers don't realise how their abilities uniquely equip them to become business owners and product builders.
It's a lot easier to launch a product than expected, and while that doesn't necessarily mean it will be successful - it does mean that side-hustling to raise extra funds is close at hand to anyone who dares try.
If you're capable of building a good product, all you need is a simple marketing strategy to spread the word. In this talk, I'll show you just how you can go about the daring task of switching from "developer" to "entrepreneur" - without risking your day job!
(to start with at least)

DevConf - Who's Afraid of Continuous Delivery? by Donald Graham
2025-09-09T10:45:00+00:00
We all want to release software multiple times a day, don’t we? Or do we? This sounds scary. Are we afraid?
What is continuous delivery, and why do we want to do it? What’s in it for us? This may just be hype. Maybe we can stop worrying about it.
Continuous delivery is hard. I’m lucky enough to have failed in many ways, so I feel qualified to talk about this. When I think about why I've failed, it's fear that's stopped me. Somebody's fear, not always mine. Maybe yours.
So who's afraid of continuous delivery? We'll take a look at who's afraid, and what they fear. If we can address the fears, we can build trust and go faster.
This is assuming you still want to do continuous delivery. Do you?

My site on Independence, Livin' Free and Badassity:
Lyrics, written by Alan and Katie Donegan:
[Verse 1]
Living life with badassity, reaching early retirement
Inspired by Mr. Money Mustache, found our enlightenment
The shockingly simple math, it made everything clear
Cutting costs, saving cash, now our freedom is near
[Chorus]
Frugality, independence, Living free, Badassity
Frugality, independence, Living free, Badassity
Oh, Mustachianism
Mustachianism
[Verse 2]
From Hassle-hoff to saving, every penny counts
Living below our means, watching our wealth mount
Keep our savings rate high, living life with thrift
Financial independence, it's too good to resist
[Chorus]
Frugality, independence, Living free, Badassity
Frugality, independence, Living free, Badassity
Oh, Mustachianism
Mustachianism
[Bridge]
We hustle hard, but we play smart
Investing wisely, it's a work of art
Early retirement, it's within our grasp
Living life on our terms, no need to ask
[Chorus]
Frugality, independence, Living free, Badassity
Frugality, independence, Living free, Badassity
Oh, Mustachianism
0XC0FFEE JHB - TTP Emulation in 2024 - Ethan Pike & Leon Jacobs | 0xCON 2024
2025-04-19T19:30:01+00:00
abstract
Have you ever wondered how APTs such as the North Korean Lazarus group [0] develop their malware? How exactly do they work, and what does it take to build their capabilities? In this talk, we’ll dive into how we recreated some of the Lazarus payloads, emulating their tactics and techniques in a unique purple team engagement.
## detail
This talk will walk through the process of researching and developing custom payloads and tools emulating the Lazarus group, including how AI/LLMs assisted (everything is written in C/C++ after all). We'll have code snippets, demos, and plenty of technical information, including a custom C2 written for the job.
Finally, we will close off with some of the struggles we encountered working as a team, from managing code repositories to doing silly things like rewriting our communications protocol.
This talk will appeal to offensive security enthusiasts and those interested in understanding the potential role AI could play in the development of malware and other security tools. In addition, if you're interested in purple teaming, this one is for you!
## notes for reviewers
This talk will be delivered by two people:
- Ethan Pike

0XC0FFEE JHB - The Battle for Narratives: Russia's Influence on Global Discourse - Jared Naude | 0xCON 2024
2025-03-28T16:00:02+00:00
In this talk, we will explore the intricate world of Russia's information operations, exploring how the Kremlin manipulates global narratives around discourse through a variety of disinformation tactics. We'll chat about what Russia has been up to in the last couple of years and look at events that have happened over the last year as many countries have had their elections. We'll explore the impact of disinformation, how researching disinformation is getting harder and the role it will play in the future.
About Jared:

0XC0FFEE JHB - Incident Response Planning as a DnD campaign - Ivan Burke | 0xCON 2024
2025-03-24T11:34:35+00:00
In an ideal world an incident response plan should capture all the required actions to mitigate, contain and eradicate any threats resulting from a cyber incident. Over the past few years it became clear that these plans need to be robust enough to stand up to real world incidents. Often times these plans contain idealised scenarios with perfectly working systems and resource availability.
Unfortunately during a real world incident not everything runs according to these plans. Thus it is good practice to run through various iterations of these scenarios and add an element of uncertainty. Thus in this talk I will discuss how I modelled an incident response scenario to a DnD campaign.
By running the scenario as a table top exercise one can implement execute multiple response plans in short succession without relying on tech dependencies or impacting business operations
About Ivan:
I have been a Cyber Security researcher for over 15 years. As part of my research I have helped develop numerous cyber security incident response plan, recovery plans and doctrine. Our company has also assisted with numerous incident responses on behalf of clients over the last 4 years.

In 2017, I stepped down from my job as CTO of a 150-person software company to see if I could make money selling my own software on the Internet. Seven years later, I am now a full-time “solopreneur”—running a portfolio of software products (written mostly in Python) as a full-time job. I now set my own hours, take vacation whenever I want, and, amazingly, earn more than I ever did as CTO.
In this talk, I’ll share how I did it and what I learned in the process. I’ll share the skills Python programmers should pick up in order to start selling software on the web, including both technical and non-technical ones. I’ll discuss how to get started, evaluating your ideas, building your product, and getting your first users and customers. The talk will draw from years of work building and selling software myself, as well as the experience I’ve gained from helping hundreds of others launch their own businesses.
If you’ve ever wanted to turn your coding skills into revenue-generating side-projects, I hope this talk both inspires and helps you to get started.

Justine Haupt - Hall sensor fingerstop position detection in debug mode (Rotary Un-Smartphone)
2022-12-16T03:45:39+00:00
A hall sensor was added under the rotary dial's face plate to detect when the fingerstop is at it's limit. What's shown is debug firmware running where the white "filament" LED flashes every time the hall sensor detects the finger stop.
Fingerstop limit detection was needed to resolve a dial reliability problem, owing to the way I tried to value engineer the rotary dial's pulse counting switch.
With the Face Plate now being an electrically active board, this crazy phone now has FOUR printed circuit boards: The motherboard, daughterboard, dial faceplate, and the antenna. Yikes.

FOSDEM - Deterministic debugging with Delve And the state of Delve
2020-11-19T13:05:14+00:00
by Derek Parker
At: FOSDEM 2020
https://video.fosdem.org/2020/UB2.252A/debuggingwithdelve.webm
In this talk I will begin by delivering the "State of Delve" update. In similar fashion to the popular "State of Go" talk I will begin by discussing all of the exciting new features and changes that have happened over the past year, since last FOSDEM. Following that I will go into a live demo showcasing how Delve can leverage Mozilla RR in order to perform deterministic debugging. This talk will begin by introducing users to the concept of deterministic debugging and the power that comes with it. Following that I will launch into a demo showcasing how to leverage this concept to debug an otherwise unpredictable highly concurrent program. Users will walk away with immediate practical knowledge they can begin applying in their day to day debugging.
It's been a year since last FOSDEM and a lot has changed with Delve! I will discuss all the new features and changes that have been implemented in the last year.
Following the "State of Delve" introduction, I will dig into how Delve can be utilized to perform deterministic debugging. This style of debugging enables users to record the execution of their process and "play it back" in a deterministic fashion in order to more quickly and efficiently perform root cause analysis on a bug that may otherwise be difficult to reproduce or track down. This section of the talk will begin by introducing the concept of deterministic debugging and why it is so useful and powerful. Once everyone is familiar with the concept I will launch into a live demo showcasing how to leverage this debugging approach to track down and fix a bug which is hard to reproduce and happens only intermittently.
Attendees will walk away with practical knowledge that they can begin applying to their debugging problems immediately.

FOSDEM - Support for mini-debuginfo in LLDB How to read the .gnu_debugdata section.
2020-11-19T13:03:36+00:00
by Konrad Kleine
At: FOSDEM 2020
https://video.fosdem.org/2020/K.4.201/debugging_mini.webm
The "official" mini-debuginfo man-page describes the topic best:
❮blockquote❯Some systems ship pre-built executables and libraries that have a
special ❮code❯.gnu_debugdata❮/code❯ section. This feature is called MiniDebugInfo.
This section holds an LZMA-compressed object and is used to supply extra
symbols for backtraces.
The intent of this section is to provide extra minimal debugging information
for use in simple backtraces. It is not intended to be a replacement for
full separate debugging information (see Separate Debug Files).
❮/blockquote❯
In this talk I'll explain what it took to interpret support for mini-debuginfo
in LLDB, how we've tested it, and what to think about when implementing this
support (e.g. merging ❮code❯.symtab❮/code❯ and ❮code❯.gnu_debugdata❮/code❯ sections).

Mr. Money Mustache - Early Retirement in One Lesson (or How I Retired at 30)
2020-09-06T21:11:32+00:00
This is a talk I did for the 2016 World Domination Summit in Portland Oregon. The idea was to take a new audience from zero to hero on the whole concept of the "How and Why" of getting wealthy enough so that you never have to work again - while you are still young.
Note: this video was originally republished elsewhere on Youtube by other channels without my permission, but this is the only rightful place it should be posted since it's my own work.
I hope these ideas prove to be as useful to you as they have to me!

On top of that, she has saved me about $100,000 over the time I have owned her, compared to the average person's car ownership and use patterns.
In this video, I break down the FIVE steps to get these kind of results yourself.

LinuxConf [ZA] - Open Source in Local Government - Challenges and Opportunities
2019-11-21T10:32:57+00:00
Delyno Du Toit
LinuxConf [ZA] 2019
This talk will provide learnings from local government on using open source software to enable and scale research and analytics. Governments have a strong proprietary software focus, with good reason. There is however a grey area where open source and proprietary software clash and it is here where open source excels.
This talk is of interest to anyone who is working in a large organisation, with a proprietary software focus, and wanting to introduce and roll-out open source software.
