2025 Comes to a Close

Well, it's that time of year again. Time to reflect on this past year.
Cleaning
I think the most impactful thing I did this year was heavily cleaning my room and office. They were not in great shape and I was ashamed to have anyone go into either of them. Sure, they still get messy from time to time, but it's a heck of a lot easier to spruce things up now than before.
Computer/Internet Breaks
I took quite a few of these this year, usually so I could focus on doing particular things. Unfortunately as a result, there was one particular individual who decided that these breaks were signs of mental health decline/collapse and decided to break all contact with me. Not exactly my favorite thing to come out of the year, but I have moved on.
Reading
I read quite a bit more than I expected to this year as well, at least during the first half of the year. It's not much for bookworms, but I did end up reading 7 books. The goal for 2026 is to read about that many books if not more.
Writing
Unexpectedly, I wrote way more than before this year. 34 posts (not including this one) were written. With my new job, I highly doubt I'll have the time to write that many posts in 2026, nor am I particularly motivated to write 34 posts again.
Coding
Most of the programming I did this year, with the exception of FlatCube, was backend stuff for my website / gemini capsule. That includes the web server and gemini server software I wrote to host my site, software to convert gemtext files into HTML files, and the git forge I use for git.vigrey.com.
I also made an NES ROM that behaves differently if opened up in the FCEUX emulator than if it is opened up on another emulator, essentially meaning the NES ROM can detect if it is being played in FCEUX or not. That project can be read about at the following link.

Winter Nights Oath Update
Back in early October, I wrote a post titled "Winter Nights 2025" where I mentioned things I plan on doing during this lunar year.
One of those things was to memorize all 88 constellations by January 1st. Well, I'm quite the procrastinator, so I didn't even start until the 9th of this month. The good news though is I took a constellations test and got all of the constellations correct! Oath made and oath kept!
2026
I don't really have any particular 2026 resolutions. I suppose all I care about is getting through it.
Try to have a good new year, yall!
