Wintertime beach

Wintertime on the beach is referred to as the destructive phase of the beach. The normal surf, coupled with a change in the prevailing winds, erodes the berm of the beach as well as some of the dune. This sand is deposited offshore in a bar. During the summer, the bar erodes and deposits onto a beach as a berm, but the dune remains eroded. At this beach, you occasionally see pipes hanging out of the dunes, a reminder of nature's unrelenting geographical change.
