God, I am SO glad that Polaroids still exist. I'm too young to have used them back in the 80s but the modern ones are just so much fun!

During my hiatus from being online, I got an interest in film photography. I have no idea what I'm doing in photography so I went down a rabbit hole reading photography blogs. I really wanted to buy a Rollei 35, but didn't like the cost of the refurbished ones so I went for a cheaper - but equally interesting - Minox 35. I also bought the Kodak Ektar point-n-shoot half frame camera, just for some fun. Film gets developed at "TheDarkRoom" which is based out of California. Anyone shoot film...

Exploring Norway — I recently returned from a road trip in northern Norway. The sunny weather allowed snapping some nice pics. Plenty of amazing views with the mountains and the Norwegian Sea. Here are six of my favorite shots.

I wrote some hacky go to read the output of exiftool and build a gemini file in the format of a tinylog. So you point it at a directory of jpg's and voila, you have a page. Any thoughts? [gemini link] At first I tried using [https link] but it didn't support all the exif fields I use and while it could be extended I sadly didn't have the time. As I wrote this on my lunch break

Are there any practices, either spec or informal for running a photo log type capsule? I want to migrate [https link] into geminispace. I like how Lagrange inlines images with a click, thinking of adding that to a kineto for people visit my current site who wouldn't use a decicated browser

my app is on play eventually [https link] here it is after fighting google beurocracy for exactly a year. [https link] it is free libre software what it does, it has four 'filters', but those aren't just filters, i worked for years to usderstand how to get colours that one would get by shooting on this or that film stock. similar tech is used when they make digital movies to look like film. ever since i started shooting digital in about 2005, i didn't like the colours i was getting. at...

SOMETHING TO TRY: In photography, concepts like the Golden Ratio help create visually appealing compositions. We often take in photos with a certain instinct, usually favoring the right side or direction, because most people are right-handed or culturally inclined to read from left to right. Try flipping a photo or mirroring it, and see how it changes the way it feels! It's pretty cool to notice how our brains react differently when things are reversed. It can totally shift the mood or focus...

photo diary — i've been keeping a sporadic photo diary for a while now, but after going through the old entries and making them available through http(s) and gemini, the pace has definitely picked up! i try to do a daily update, but don't really mind if i miss a day here or there. most of it's just snaps from my daily life in tokyo, but feel free to take a look if you're at all interested~ oh and if anyone is curious, it's shot on a variety of...

Wintertime beach — Wintertime on the beach is referred to as the destructive phase of the beach. The normal surf, coupled with a change in the prevailing winds, erodes the berm of the beach as well as some of the dune. This sand is deposited offshore in a bar. During the summer, the bar erodes and deposits onto a beach as a berm, but the dune remains eroded. At this beach, you occasionally see pipes hanging out of the dunes, a reminder of nature's unrelenting geographical change.
