I remember as a child, around 5 or so, my grandfather had an old mac computer. I can't remember what kind, but it had a CRT monitor I believe. There was an old edutainment game that all I remember of was this old man, some sort of researcher or entomologist, and he knocked something over and let all of his bugs loose. I distinctly remember walking to the net in the corner and getting agitated because I had to use math instead of grabbing the net to catch them again, as what made the most sense to me.

you just spurred a memory of the game The Legend Of Kyrandia for me. odd problem solving fantasy game. I still played the heck out of it.

No idea what the game is, but if someone figures it out, here's a website that you might be able to download it from

@gritty The Legend of Kyrandia is breathtaking! If you haven't listened to the main theme "Outside Brandon's House" recently you should! ๐

@drcouzelis I'm not as old as the post might make me seem. It was sometime around 2010 or 2011 most likely, but the computer was very old and I don't think it could connect to the internet. My grandfather had taken it from the school he had worked at when they were clearing everything out, but it had to be really old. It had the big CRT monitor and beige box and everything, but that's all I can remember aside from us tossing the monitor in a gully when the computer finally broke and then talking about how I liked how old computers looked and wanting to make one that looks like an old computer some day.

I misread this the first time and thought your grandfather was an entomologist and you were annoyed he made you gather his bugs instead of playing on the PC :') I can remember playing a Maths based game where you explored a medieval castle and had to do basic sums to progress. Wonder if I could find it...

I bought a PC game for the kids (now in their 30s) that was something like that. The background song was

@stack Was it this? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CM1LPNi4kNg Looking at it, it isn't that. I think the game had other math based minigames as well, but I'm not sure.

Yeah. There were some other games, where you could make 'a feathered friend', and the worst one, where Fatty Bear (usually called Farty Bear) played against you and sometimes cheated, causing much crying.

Almost sounds like something from the Super Solvers series. They had a bunch of games like that. Fits edutainment too.
