Seeking advice on enjoying Geminispace via CLI β Hi everyone. Iβm currently using QTerminal as my main terminal, but Iβm trying to set up Alacritty specifically for exploring Geminispace with Amfora. (I've only ever used GUI browsers before.) Iβve been trying to customize the colors to my liking, but Iβm having trouble. I believe I need to coordinate the settings between Alacritty's alacritty.toml and Amfora's config.toml, but it keeps crashing (force-closing). Following advice from Gemini AI,β¦

Managing dotfiles with nothing but a makefile β Makefiles make files, and dotfiles are files. I've used a makefile to generate actual dotfiles as hard links for over a year, and it's worked great.

Distrohopping weekend β Last weekend was a lot of fun. I wanted to try out Plasma 6, at the time I had Pop_OS! 22.04, so first I tried to upgrade to the 24.04 alpha version of Pop. I must say that the results were pretty bad. The updater goes blind, it doesn't show what it's doing and it doesn't allow to cancel the operation. After running for a while, with no hard disk activity, I decided to kill the process, as the usual options didn't work. After that, it was impossible to start the...

NOT1MM testing RTTY and FT8 modes. β I've been writing a Linux Ham Radio contest logger for some time now. It's been mostly limited to CW and Phone. I've recently added a WSJT UDP traffic watcher and an XMLRPC poller for fldigi. So we're now able to start testing digital modes. I've added a plugin for the Weekly RTTY Test. [https link]

Current projects of interest β I have just moved in to Linux recently and didnt expect so much stuff still working. I will list a few which interested me so far: - open arena (being fan of quake 3 from childhood, that was.. very pleasant discovery) - 0 a.d. (expected a civ clone, got something more interesting) - openmw (great engine rewrite which also opened doors to more cursed stuff like online mode >:) - Fightcade/GGPOZ (not fully opensource, but good projects on their own - aiming to bring...

Building native UI applications on Linux in the declarative/reactive way? β I like GTK+ visually. It's minimalistic and all applications look organically on one Gnome-based desktop. But when I decided to write an application myself for my favorite OS (Elementary), I went into a stupor. You can only write in Vala+GTK in HORRIBLE imperative style. After a long time programming in [Lisp Racket] and [JS], I can't go back to this. I can't imagine programming without lambdas and stateless...
