I've been having fun playing multiplayer Snake over SSH at snakes.run recently. It's pretty fun, honestly. Longest snake I've had so far is 837! Not enough to be on the leaderboard, though. You can play it by SSHing to "snakes.run". (You can pick whatever username you like, but be aware that if you don't give SSH a username then it'll send your local one. The game hides usernames for privacy, except for the first letter, and it assigns a number to each connection.) It's made by eioio, the same...

So, a moment ago, I just deleted a post of mine that asked why I was getting notifications for posts that have polls in them, even though I wasn't following them. It turns out that the answer to this is that there is an option on the notification settings page for exactly this! [gemini link] Notification settings page Simply untick the "New poll is posted" option if you don't want to be notified of new polls.

It's depressing, but this needs to be heard. It's not...

The DragonRuby game dev toolkit — For about four years now, I've been messing around with a game dev engine called DragonRuby, created by Amir Rajan and Ryan Gordon (Icculus). It's a very small, lean (less than 5MB) game development runtime(/environment), and games are written in the Ruby programming language. [https link] (YouTube) A quick 5-minute introduction to DragonRuby If you're of a certain age, you'll have grown up with computers that came with their own built-in languages. In many...

Hello, world. — I'm going to be trying to come out of my shell a little bit. I've kind of kept myself to myself recently... but Gemini still seems small and intimate enough that it doesn't exactly feel like I'm broadcasting to the world, you know? It's a falsehood, because I *am* broadcasting to the world by posting this, and it's completely public. So maybe what I'm feeling is just a false sense of security. But on the other hand, maybe that's just what I need... I don't feel comfortable...
