I have a pleco and catfish and they keep that tank pretty clean.
my wife named the pleco Randall because he's "weird" and looks like the guy of the same name from monsters, inc.

I bought a cory catfish and he ain't helping at all. Speaking of Disney movies, my tank after 3 weeks looks like when they jammed the filter wheel in the dentist office tank in "Finding Nemo"!

The algae outcompeted the floating plants. So I just bought more plants, some "background plants" but of course I don't have sand in my aquarium, just gravel, so the roots probably aren't gonna hold. And one more fish died, the pleco, so no I only have one. I need to set up a new tank and transfer this guy so I can bleach the crap out of my good tank!

My fish tank travails — Just cleaned tank and did a 50% water change yesterday. It was a slime covered mess the day before that. It has been a multi-year battle with algae that I have fought ever since previous small tank with a much less bright light developed a leak and I replaced it with current tank. I never had algae problems before. It must have been a plant i bought from the pet store at some point, but it has gotten so bad. I really need to do weekly cleans but I can't keep that...
