I just found a cool markdown TUI for the linux terminal. I don't use MD that much so it's new to me.

I just hit 2 double fills on my Fill! game today. I find playing these games in a TUI like amfora is pretty enjoyable with the numpad as well.

@CalvusRex - I couldn't find your email so I'm messaging you here (as an omitted post) - your /contact and /guestbook links on your website wouldn't work for me. Just letting you know. I also just discovered your RuneNet site and left a message.

Announcing Pig! (yet another dice game) I've implemented the die game Pig, but this time entirely in Racket [1], a Lisp-language relative (read: functional programming). This is BETA and open for TESTING. The game uses SCGI instead of CGI in order to elminate repeated calls to load and unload a CGI program: Pig is loaded into memory and waits for connections. The SCGI portion was created from scratch as well. Thanks to @stack for the Lisp inspiration. [gemini link] Play Pig! [gemini link]...

For those who play Farkle, Fill, or Craps, or use DSN Antenna - I'm going to be applying patches / upgrades to the server sometime today, which occasionally breaks things (I'm looking at you, Python). Gamestats shouldn't be affected

I bought a Berkey gravity fed water purifier (vs/filter) not long ago. It claims to be able to remove heavy metals and you can take it camping to drink normally nonpotable water from lakes and streams. Filters last for years. They're expensive up front but cheap in the long term. Anyone have any experience or input on these? Reviews and purity claims seem legit.

@bluesman - finally trying out the newest version of Alhena. I really like it. Coming from Lagrange, the certs are different, but didn't take me long to figure it out. It also seems a bit snappier than the last time I tried it out. I appreciate all the work you've put into this.

Millet. this may be a staple for others but I made my first pan of millet today. cooked it in chicken stock, then melted in some butter and cheese after, topped with cracked black pepper and chicken. it was really good!

Traveling for work. Just read an article about a local town council unanimously voting in a new data center. Can't say no to jobs and money.

Talk me in our out of this: I am struggling to not pick up a cheap used laptop after the discussion about it on [gemini link] This Thread ...but not for Linux. I am happy with my Tuxedo InfinityBook S 15 and have no real need for a new laptop, but I find myself occasionally needing or wanting to use a Windows machine, either for logging into webmail for work without the hassle, or not dealing with wifi captive portals that refuse to work with linux despite hours of tinkering (my solution at...

SCGI Starter Project in Go — I figured I'd share a little starter project I made in Go that could potentially be used to kickstart your own SCGI application. Tested in Stargazer only.

Find: Stargazer Gemini Server — Today I found Stargazer, a gemini server written in Rust that supports SCGI. I've been using Molly Brown for SCGI development but wanted to see what else is out there. I know GLV-1.12556 supports it as well, but I think it's only via TCP(?), and I wanted to use UNIX Domain sockets instead. Stargazer does both. As some of you may remember, I've been toying around with SCGI on and off for a bit. My drive is/was to reduce the overhead of spinning up a new...

Been spending some free time putting Windows 11 on my 12 year old desktop (I know). It's amazing how much Microsoft is trying to kill off old hardware for no reason. Had to use Rufus to bypass the hardware check. I got a new SSD, and 8 gig ram on a fresh install and it runs just fine for my needs. Forced obsolescence. reinstalling apps and WSL has actually been enjoyable if I'm being honest.
