Struggling with this issue.

LibreWolf (a more private FireFox fork) seems to be the one I come back to. I tried the older minimalistic browsers, but they rip a new one in my 4GB-RAM i7 system.

depending on your os, there is also Falkon, Servo and Ladybird.

Personally i use Firefox on Android+Linux with massive ublock blocklist and 4get as a privacy respecting search engine... but i get your point. its a monopoly.... thats why we hangout here๐Ÿค“

I recently compiled Servo and Verso. Both look like trash. My last hope is Ladybird, maybe.

I dropped Brave once I found that they are not blocking all trackers. Someone gave it a nice name: the Shy Lion, because of the mismatch between promises and reality.

It depends. What are your needs?

My observations on Linux show that all 'small/old/niche' browsers are actually harder on my system than LibreWolf (which is basically FireFox). They tend to use more CPU when active, and not relinquish it when inactive.

LibreWolf seems to reserve more virtual memory (many gigabytes on my machine), but actively uses relatively little. When quiescent or in background, it usses extremely little memory or CPU. Some pages are bad, however.

In terms of privacy, LibreWolf with a few add-ons is the best I found, other than just using Tor.

I was bitching about LibreWolf starting processes and showing a lot of reserved memory, but in practice, it's pretty good.

@ps and Flow browser, but its proprietary ๐Ÿคฎ

Don't be to harsh at judging, its great that some folks are building alternative browsers...

Hi! Thank you for your comment - I have been seeing the same thing. I tried LibreWolf and it actually works quite nicely, so I think I will end up keeping it.

Hi! I need something light, possibly supporting Keepass, and with ads blockers. I am not interested in synchronization features, and I don't need anything feature packed and highly customizable like Vivaldi (which is cool, just not for me).

Ladybrid sounds promising! I will keep watching it. I truly hope an actual independent browser comes out at some point that does work well.

Yep! Between the browsers monopoly and the state of www sites these days, browsing the internet is not fun anymore. Here feels more like the internet felt to me in the 90s.

Which web browser should I use? I am using Duckduckgo on Windows and Android, and Firefox on Linux, but I am not happy with either. I am not a fan of Chrome or chrome based browsers and don't want to use Brave so... (I do actually use Lynx often, but it can't work for home banking and such...)
