I've updated this after some discussion in #geminauts. It now has an ImageMagick preprocessor that does the ugly work for you. Much nicer results now and also supports Unicode Braille art.

Not at this time. The diglet source is incredibly hacky. Maybe if I get them cleaned up a little. For the moment my goal is to keep this Gemini-only. I’m trying to create original things for Gemini because I want this space to have more things the Web doesn’t.

Wrote a tool to convert graphics to text art in the style of shaded block textart seen on textart.sh. It's pretty simple and scales output to <100 pixels for rectangular pixel art and <50 for square pixel. This works out to a max of 100 columns. You can feed it http or https URLs, but not gemini. Sorry, I'm just using the default file handling. Hope it's useful for some other people. [gemini link]
