I didn't want to ruin the vibe by posting too much, so I thought about switching to Nostr. But after spending so much time in Geminispace lately, the sheer amount of information there is just exhausting. Maybe I really do need to create my own little space where I can just vent freely.

There's a lot of noise on nostr but there are also some very interesting discussions. I'm working on caracal, a Nostr client for Gemini.

there are plenty of hosting services if you'd like to go that way.

Exactly. I've just gotten so used to the text-heavy Geminispace that the sheer volume of icons and images (on other platforms) is exhausting now, lol.
Before I came here, I used to wonder if a text-only world could even be interesting, but look at me now!
And a Nostr client for Geminispace?! That sounds amazing. I'll definitely check your site again! Thanks!

I see, it's good to know there are so many options out there!
Since I’m not an engineer, it feels like a distant dream for me, though! lol
To be honest, I was feeling a bit down because I was tired after working all morning when I wrote that earlier. Thanks for the kind comment!
Oddly my ex-partner (business) confided in me once that he hated text in all forms, and only joined me to implement a world without text, video only...

Never worry about killing no vibe, be yourself, and more people oughta post about cool stuff! Here, I linked this before iirc but there's a specific section for hosts here:
You'll also notice my host is listed there, hashnix, which you and any reasonable participant is always invited to be on board if so choose, but otherwise there's also the s/tilde subspace here where there are some other hosts linked. Off the top of my head, I know there's tilde.club, ctrl-c.club (iirc), vern.cc, p.projectsegfau.lt, or if you'd like web accessible tools there's flounder.online, gemcities.com, list goes on.

Mistyped the slash! lol
A while back, I might have felt the same way as your former business partner. But thanks to AI, I can now read English with translations and explanations even without high English proficiency. That’s a huge reason why I’m rediscovering the beauty of text-based communication. Thanks for sharing such an interesting story!

Thank you for your kind words! To be honest, I sometimes feel a bit nervous because I’m not familiar with cultures outside of Japan.
I’m taking a look at the links! I think I misunderstood the meaning of "hosting" though lol. I thought it was a service for building something specific, like GitHub Pages or Sourcehut. I should have asked Gemini AI to translate the category sections for me! lol
I’ll take my time to explore the various subspaces later—starting with hashnix, of course! :)
I am glad that you found a good use for AI.
A few years back I worked on a Lisp project with a Japanese team (I do not speak Japanese), and I was asked not to use Google translate because the translation was horrible and one of my comments sounded like a threat. I had to wait for the one team member who spoke English to translate my Github comments.
Modern AI is great for this kind of thing.
@knshow I have a short lost of hosting services on my site. For some of those, you just need to know gemtext.

@stack That sounds like a really tough experience... Having to wait is the worst because you can't get anything done, yet the time just slips away.
In that sense, I’m truly grateful for how much AI has evolved. :)
@gritty Thanks! I'll check it out again later!
