Hi khshow, are there Japanese-language “small web” forums and networks and protocols like Gemini? Is there a lot of interest in reducing consumption of the mainstream web, or in breaking away from tech altogether?

The reason I wrote that was because, in my environment, it shows up as 's/日本(Japan),' so I was worried people without Japanese fonts might just see gibberish. I’m so embarrassed to find out it was just me! lol

I need to learn more Japanese, heh. I still don't know that much at all. Doing my best, but it's slow-going and it can be difficult to keep to a rigid schedule for learning it.

I meditate at a Tibetan Buddhist temple and the Rinpoche travels to teach in Japan a lot. In fact, I believe he's there now. Is that unusual? What is Buddhism like there these days? I feel like it's growing in the US.
I also love baseball. How is the popularity of that sport doing? Do you have a favorite team in Japan and/or America?

The thing with subspaces in their native language like s/日本 is, is it meant for people to actually only write in this language and everything not in this language is off-topic?
This certainly is not unreasonable, because if you can only read this one language, you get spammed by posts you cannot read.
And people who can read both, can subscribe to both, the s/日本 and the s/Japan subspace.

I think it's great to have an English sub as proposed. I sadly do not know Japanese but would love to learn more about all things Japanese.

When I first joined, the logs here and in other Gemini spaces were a mix of posts from hours or even days ago, with many different people. But lately, I felt like I’ve been posting so much that I might be burying everyone else’s logs... and I’ve been feeling a bit guilty about it.
I’ll make sure to read the English more carefully from now on and try not to be a nuisance!

In the Japanese internet culture, I've often seen people get bashed for "failing to read the room," so I was a bit scared of making a mistake, lol. Especially since this is an English-speaking community and I don't know the culture well yet, I was even more nervous.
