Why do you measure your worth by productivity instead of connections?
Because the capitalist-realist notion that value==utility is deeply entrenched in our society. It takes real effort to see things any differently.

Speaking as somebody who many would consider "old", I have to say that there's quite a lot to be scared of. Can't do much about it and, of course, we all aspire to being old one day -- the alternative being what it is.
But, still, it's not got much going for it, and a lot against it.
