Dead rising series finished, curious what people think about it
I hate when capcom does the safe sequels. They are so good at making exceptional gameplay, and then going lazy mode with the sequels, keeping the exact seme gameplay and changing other peripheral things, that make them kind of worse, but not so bad to totally hate them. The core gameplay still carries the game and if any one in the series happens to be someone's first it easily becomes the best for that person. They do this all the time: DMC 3, 4, 5, resident evil 4,5,6, and remakes, lost planet 1, 2, 3. I can't hate any of it, it's esentially the same, but like, staaahp, make new good gameplay already!
I suppose everyone else does that too, but it's especially jarring with capcom cause they are one of the few AAAs that focus on gameplay. If the game is carried by narrative or other type of content, and the gameplay is just avarage or supercasual or even downright bad, then when it doesn't change in sequels it's not that noticable. But when you are all gameplay and you don't change it... It's like if an adventure game sequel kept the exact same story and just changed from visual novel to point and click, or from point and click to RPG maker style...
My first dead rising was 2 and I loved it, but I've danced to their safe sequel fiddle with DMC and RE already and got sick of it, so now when I see a safe sequel I skip.
