Great find! I always forget about gopher. Lagrange on a phone makes it pretty hard to read gopher files though...

Oh nice dragfyre! That looks wonderful, I'll be visiting it in the future for sure.

I'm noticing many of the documents state they may be re-hosted for non-commercial use. Might not be as much of a moral grey area as initially suspected.

@digler That's what I figured, I mean there are actually several gopher mirrors as far as I can tell, and IIRC there was one on Gemini at one point.

IP is not a real thing. You can only steal physical objects, and then the victim no longer has them. If they still have them, it is not 'property' and there is no crime. Do not believe men with guns insisting otherwise (although, avoid them!)

@stack The files are just plain text. The gopher part never gets long enough to be an issue for Lagrange.
Bigger issue is Lagrange on mobile wraps text files, which doesn’t work so hot because the text is all hard wrapped and then everything looks jagged.
You can pinch zoom out until you get a full 80 columns and then they look fine.

You know what would really shine in Gemini? GameFAQs. It's just a huge library of nothing but plain ASCII text files and would be perfect for browsing with a Gemini client. Someone should just steal all the GameFAQs ever made and post them as a Gemini site somewhere. This would of course break copyright law so we'd need a large company involved in AI to do it as they're able to get away with that kind of thing. 🎮
