Dead rising series finished, curious what people think about it — Finished dead rising series and specifically dead rising 4 + frank rising. I.. genuelly dont know how to feel about it because it is far from as bad as people describe it but it surely isnt what dead rising initially was anymore. Maybe its a good thing as all games (aside from side games of 2) are accessible and series is relatively dead. albeit deluxe remaster might be a bell of smth coming.

Doom game implemented in CSS [https link] I can add only, that my 'modern' computer can't drive it in browser without lags, but looks interesting, anyway.

I just need somewhere to note that this year is the midpoint between the date Deus Ex was released and the date it was set.

Yesterday was the MAR10 DAY — It’s remarkable, and goes well here in gemini, that Super Mario Bros. (1985) used just 40 KB of ROM, less than many WhatsApp stickers today! The entire game (32 levels, enemies, music, and graphics) fit within this tiny space. How? Extreme optimization. Developers reused visual elements: clouds and bushes shared the same graphic, only changing color palettes. Enemies like Goombas used just two animation frames. Led by Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo’s team worked within...

My 4-year old and I love TMNT Splintered Fate. I play on Switch with no online subscription. I wish it had a RoR-like loop mechanic that would allow infinite scaling until I lose.

The Addictive Pull of Evony: The King's Return — The Addictive Pull of Evony: The King's Return I never thought a mobile game could get under my skin the way Evony: The King's Return did. At first, it was just something to fill a few spare minutes - build a little city, train some troops, join an alliance, and watch my kingdom slowly grow. It felt harmless, even relaxing. But somewhere along the way, it stopped feeling casual and started feeling like a responsibility. It started taking me a...

— On Gemini Games [adavies.foo]

On Gemini Games — Hello everyone! Im new to the geminispace , and I could not avoid to note that there are not much games here. The idea of having more games here, and the ability to implement them, is something that really interests me, so I made a posts about it in my capsule: I would love you to read it and let me know what you think! I do believe that this would be a really nice addition to Gemini.

Anyone here still playing Gwent? I feel like this game didn't get the love it deserved, but it's still very much active and it's better balanced than ever.

First Men In The Moon Orbital Mechanics — I was just re-reading -- actually re-listening to a LibriVox reading of -- 'The First Men In The Moon' by H.G.Wells, written in 1900. If you haven't read it, you should. I had that thought long ago: an original orbital mechanics game based on the gravity-shield described in that story, with the goal of navigating to the moon and other planets. To summarize, the protagonist builds a spherical craft (made of glass!) containing gravity-shielding shutters....

Starting from today, maybe pausing with Yoda (as enough of features for me) and switching to another uncompleted project - open source alternative to the TES Legends game. Thoughts write it in Rust, maybe first client version would be released for Geminispace, as yet not experienced in Gamedev UI. Ping me if you're interested in this kind of card games - I'm working on backend mostly and looking for teamates!

You know what would really shine in Gemini? GameFAQs. It's just a huge library of nothing but plain ASCII text files and would be perfect for browsing with a Gemini client. Someone should just steal all the GameFAQs ever made and post them as a Gemini site somewhere. This would of course break copyright law so we'd need a large company involved in AI to do it as they're able to get away with that kind of thing. 🎮

Thief - Deadly Shadows replayed 2024. Thoughts. — I recently re-played Thief - Deadly Shadows. I got it on Gog.com several years ago, but never got it running well until now. There are a lot of fan-fixes and patches available that will make it a bit better (SneakyUpgrade is what I used). Still had some issues with crashes and things, but nothing a reload wouldn't solve. I played on Linux in wine, so some things may have been introduced because of that too. I was able to comfortably finish the...

Do you like to play Hero Hearts (Everett Kaser Software), or had made any levels? There are some limitations and bugs in the original software and it isn't FOSS and is not a Linux program, so I had written a FOSS implementation of the game engine that can be used on Linux. (The FOSS version is called Free Hero Mesh)

Ripple — This is a game I made a number of years ago, but I realized I only ever really got feedback on it from close friends, and I'm curious to see what folks at BBS think of it. It's a deceptively simple game I think, in that you can understand the rules easily enough but the difficulty ramps up to "impossible" very quickly. A game never lasts longer than a minute I don't think. My high score ever is 13, post yours below!

Disco elysium is VERY disco So I got obsessed with disco elysium again, and I was wondering if someone else had checked it out! I’m absolutely in love with the way the game portrays it’s world, and how it describes everything in it.. It’s such a well, beautifully crafted game!!! I could spend hours talking about it, but I’ll just say that my favorite stat is Inland Empire, lol ~🐛
