@devoid I like them as much as I like the floor. Definitely 'not infected' yet; maybe that's because I never kissed their ass or the stuff where these ones are sleeping :/ or maybe just thanks to feeds in social networks.

It's pretty amazing when something small and helpless chooses you; to be with you. To help it and to take care for it. I think that's why people love cats.
That and our innate desire to anthropomorphize anything and everything.
It's probably the same as with any other pets, or little children, I suppose.

I have one and have had a looot of cats before in my long life. Yes, they are cute, but the floor is cute too. However, I donβt see it every day in social feeds. Cats always had their role: catching mice; they were never my toys. Maybe modern urban life has a mentality issue, where there's nobody else to love (or be intimate with).

It does; and it's not just urban life I'm afraid.
Our existence in the modern world is a pretty loveless one (in my opinion). We take the love we can get.
As you say; cats have their roles, and so do we perceive one another; our "betters" most certainly do.
On a personal note: I take offense to your view that loving cats is because of kissing cat's asses; it's pretty derogatory (and dehumanizing too). I hope I can inspire you to find a different perspective.

I mainly love cats, because they're soft, making that soothing vibration noise that destresses you, and they love you no matter what. But I'm also a big fan of cats since I was a child.
