It should work. And mentioning this, better abstain from square colors. I've seen somewhere ASCII of chessboard and it's unreadable solely because of try to represent this.

I didn't know this existed. I wish I had known! That said, I imagine that "It's your turn!" notifications and time limits would go a long way towards keeping activity going. Games probably stall because people forget.

Email notifications should be quite easy to implement, right? I mean, if you already have a running server, adding that in a similar way BBS handles it..

@Half_Elf_Monk @roughnecks Some more features would be handy. And I think 30+30 time control already would be playable with the UI. Daily chess would be great.

Chess on Gemini — Looks like it's not lively, huh? [gemini link] I think without time control the games are problematic. The best option is just playing in a thread somewhere on Station or BBS. You can also chat though but the game requires an additional board or analysis page opened.
