That really sucks. I've been dealing with back pain most of my life and pretty much missed out on my 20s.

Sitting is pretty bad for your back. There are some remedies that help moderate pain -- capsicum ointments and patches help me. Also those iron oxide heat pads that stay hot for 12 hours work pretty well.

CBD helps some people...

[waving emoji] @stack At this point I know how to fix it (pt exercises, ice, heat, sleeping in a certain way) and I know how long (FOR ME) it takes to flare back down again, it's just a matter of how mentally degrading it is, and how I have to find ways to not just check out of life for the 2-3 weeks it takes.

From the discussion we had (I think) on Station, I understand you've had medical advice, and know there isn't some specific pathology that has to be treated. If that's the case, I guess all you can do is try to increase the time between episodes. I doubt that the length or severity of each "outage" can be affected all that much, particularly as you already know what gives relief.

Many people in this situation find that trunk-strengthening exercises help to reduce the frequency of attacks, but they need to be carried our religiously, no exceptions. I don't know if you've seen a physiotherapist, but strengthing the core musculature to protect the lower back is meat-and-drink to them.
