Summary: Communist China receives blind support from Microsoft and the US congress denounces Microsoft for it

Microsoft and tyranny go together hand in hand. Anyone who is familiar with Microsoft's past knows this very well.

Microsoft's past

Yesterday we wrote about Google's situation in China and what it says about Microsoft, which is just so greedy and suppression-tolerant. Based on this report from CNN, Google received praise and Microsoft accused of “enabling tyranny”.

Two days after Google stopped censoring search results in China, a congressional panel praised the company’s actions while excoriating the Beijing government for its record on Internet censorship and human rights.[...]“They [Microsoft] need to get on the right side of human rights rather than enabling tyranny, which they’re doing right now,” [Rep. Chris] Smith said.

“I love to see Microsoft and tyranny in the same sentence,” said our administrator. This is not the first time, either. The US government previously denounced Microsoft for helping the Chinese government find the identity of dissidents (which is could then imprison, torture, or even murder). One person on the panel even made a comparison to Nazi Germany when he denounced Microsoft’s actions (around 2006). █
