If you could turn back time (at least as far as year/era of the internet goes) - what would it be and why?

Saw there's this iOS app called "Terminal - Enter The Void" and it's this... ephemeral text only anonymous social network. Naturally the first thing I did on there was preach about glorious geminispace!

I acquired an IBM iSeries model 270 yesterday in pretty alright shape. Starting it up (thankfully it didn't explode) revealed a peculiar power related diagnostic code. 1011 2611 - either PWRREG or TWRCARD according to the service manual. Reading the whole motherboard needed replacement I checked eBay, thankfully they're cheap. But the pictures showed a piece missing on this machine: the voltage regulator! This machine was smart enough to check AND report that component failed EVEN when it's outright not there??? holy shit. amazing! can't wait to fix it up and put it into production!!!

Today's the first day of my new job as a NOC Engineer for a major ISP. It's wild - despite having no certifications or a degree, I went from making $38K to $70K USD per year. I'm scared shitless I won't be able to keep up. But they know my knowledge gaps and they like how I think. They hired me for a reason. So here we go!

was finally able to water my astrobotany plant. honestly was scared it was going to wilt and die. It's strange being so worried about a digital plant game, but... three years of watering it once a day, y'know? anyway, meet Christopher: gemini://astrobotany.mozz.us/public/21b34ff9a3664cd284aa80869613ace9/m1

I'm unable to access astrobotany - it says failed to communicate with the server. Really starting to get worried my plant is dying. I've had it in its current generation for nearly three years :\

rediscovered the joys of IRC <3 and if I can fix my early 2000s optiplex beige box, I might set it up as an old-school MUCK/MUD/IRC terminal. who knows!
