@skyjake announces Lagrange on iOS. Like an actual build that's not Test Flight. gemini://skyjake.fi/gemlog/2026-02_lagrange-in-app-store.gmi I haven't used iOS in quite some time, so being out of Test Flight I take is a good thing! That's awesome. I noted they mentioned Android. I myself have Android and I just so happen to have Lagrange installed on it. Runs great! But I'm sure my pov is far from proper testing.

The whole Discord thing is wild to me. I understand what they're doing, but the HOW they're doing it is the wild part to me. I think you pair that with the whole Amazon Ring SuperBowl ad that...I have no idea who thought that ad was a good idea. But all I have heard today is how we all need to rip Ring cameras down because we're all being watched. It's just a really "interesting" time because I think people are thinking, "maybe we've gone a bit too far." But I doubt people will really be stirred into action, old habits die hard. I'll give credit, but none of this was over night coming, ain't over night leaving.

Ooof, lost an NVMe drive. Thankfully had a backup. NVMe replaced with one that was in a Pi 5 and a SATA SSD, since the Pi 5 was a much smaller drive than what the desktop size was. I really hope that doesn't happen again while we're in PC part armageddon. I don't think I have much "spare" left here.

Question for anyone. Has anyone ever replaced an oven range hood? You know the fan and light thing that hovers over your stove? Mine is ducted, I guess that's what it is called, it has a pipe that blows air out a vent that goes out the roof. Since I have a gas range. Anyway the fan on mine went out and the thing is like 25 years old, so I figure it's just time to replace. Anyone know if that's a DIY kind of thing? I do know electrical wiring so that's not a problem, just don't know what I need to do to remove the old one and replace with a new one.

Relative humidity is one of those fun things to think about. RH indicates the amount of water the air can hold at the given pressure and temperature. If the temperature goes down, the RH% goes up, because the air can hold less water in it. Likewise if temperature goes up, the RH% goes down, because the air can hold more water in it. But things get dryer when temperature goes down and RH% goes down or stays the same. One of those things I noticed on my little digital guage when I turn on the mini split. Some of the water get yanked out of the air and drained outside.

Not to unload, but venting for a second. I just got done with jury duty for a homicide case. While the details are not great, what I think was worse was the person who was murdered was a ~60 year old cancer survivor. The person had little to nothing moneywise left after treatment and couldn't return to work, took what money they had left and bought a home in a low income area, and all it took was a neighbour who was under the influence to finish their story. But I'm not left with a sense of justice as a whole, what kind of society are we that permits bankrupting people for having cancer? Yes, the murderer is put away, but it feels far from closure.

Got a Brother DSmobile 620 scanner? Got Fedora Linux? Want to get the two to work together? Go to brother's website. https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadtop.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=ds620_all Download the RPM and install it the way the website indicates. rpm -ihv --nodeps <libsane-stuff-stuff-version.rpm Note that when you do: scanimage -L as your regular user you don't see the scanner, but if you do: sudo scanimage -L You'll see the scanner. This is the udev rules not giving it to a group that your normal user belongs to. Edit the file /dev/udev/rules.d/50-Brother_DSScanner.rules and change the users to one you belong to. Profit!

I know no one asked and take this with a grain of salt. After watching the Switch 2 Direct, the Switch is clearly where I'm getting off the Nintendo train. Just $80 a game. That's not a "I don't want" that's a "I can't". And $450 for the console in the age of $400 Steam Deck + Steam sales. And that Nintendo cost isn't even adding in the annual online cost. Which granted it's the cheapest, but it's the cheapest for a reason. Nintendo is not known for their amazing online experience. But I still can't get over the price tag. That alone, to beat a dead horse meme, "in this economy?" The price alone breaks the deal for me.

I'm sorry, I believe I asked for much LESS intersting times. Less, not expeditiously increasing in interest.

Does anyone here use Yesterweb? (gemini://cities.yesterweb.org/) I was thinking of posting some of my more lengthy thoughts somewhere and that came up on my radar. Any good? I espeically like the idea of being able to use Titan to upload to the capsule directly.

Added error handling to my Rust Gemini browser and proper TLS Identity handling, no more hard-coding things. Next step is to break out the building a request from the actual TCP connection. Ideally, I'd like to support Spartan, Titan, and Gopher. So I'll need the ability to make requests be a changeable thing.

Hello Station! This is me, posting from my first Gemini client written in Rust. It's not very good as for the 10 status code, I have to hard code what I want to send at the moment. Ultimate goal is to eventually have a client that can do basic browsing on Station.

I've found it interesting that sometime I worry about losing the good life that I have worked hard to build only to follow that thought up with, but I will lose everything one day there's not a stopping that. Interestingly, the material difference between the two seems to be whether I will have to live through that loss or not. And it turns that worry into an inqury as to the degree of selfishness all this stems from. IDK, just putting something out here. The more I have lived the more I understand the degree of that which I don't understand. It's a lot apparently and I'm solid to the position that humanity has just been flying by the seat of their pants for quite some time.

For dinner I had Raisin Bran cereal. I literally had zero motivation to cook tonight, so I went for a comfort food. Big storm moved through the area today and one of the doors got blown in. Broke the latch of the door and the door itself looks like it'll need to be replaced. However, that's about the extent of the damage unlike my neighbor who lost quite a bit of his roof's shingles.

I went to a park the other day. The park has a new tennis complex in the location where the county agricultural center used to be. I remember as a kid my grandfather would take us kids there to show livestock. After we were done, we'd get a foil wrapped ham and biscuit from one of the vendors that would usually show up. I remember this one time my cousin got his biscuit and my cousin had ran off into the stands. After awhile, we all finally found him. Sitting on the top row of seats. He said, "Hey granddaddy, you said we could watch a bit before we left." And so we all did. (Rest of story in replies)

Moment of analogy. Gasoline is dangerous. For obvious reasons, one must be careful with it. Not just toss it all over the place or chuck matches at it. And yet millions of people fuel their transport with it every day with little fanfare. I feel there is a bit of an analogy, at least given some events today, to organized religion. That's all. Sorry to intrude. For what it's worth, I successfully made my first whole grain loaf of bread today. A bittersweet event after reading about some of the news today.
