Music programming
Hello BBS *tips fedora.
So I came across this software package called “Strudel” that lets you write an algorithm to produce music. The melody will react live as you make modification to your code. Amazing!
However, the entire software is written in JavaScript and runs best in Chrome, which is not exactly halal for someone like me to use.
I think the idea of algorithmic music generation is not new at all, is there some software package that are more minimal and local (none browser) that have similar functionality? I don’t really need live coding.

There are tons! Look at Pure Data, SuperCollider, Csound, TidalCycles, Sonic Pi, and others.

Strudel is actually a javascript/web implementation of Tidalcycles, so sounds like you want to try Tidalcycles
