For heavy keyboard use I recommend split, it allows a much more natural position.
My current favourite:

and pretty much equivalent from a practical perspective was

As far as custom layouts go, dvorak and home row mods are the biggest wins I think, followed by chords for arrow keys and home/end.

I ended up selling mine because it wasn't customizable enough. If it supported qmk it would be more interesting.

bad idea to waste a lot of space for huge space button. I'm currently using aurora corne (nice!nano v2/zmk), but I'd suggest to check something like dactyl manuform
